Not telling you
Currently, FTO and Curvy Copter have terrible hardware. FTO speedsolvers have had to either heavily mod a LanLan or add extra parts to a Qiyi Rex Cube, and Curvy Copter solvers don't even have either of those relative luxuries. I'm thinking of contacting a company like Qiyi, Moyu, Yuxin or YJ to get them to make a decent FTO or Curvy Copter, ideally stickerless and with magnets, but my parents won't let me contact them. Is anyone up fpr the task?

People already have and the answer has been no

Unless you can persuade them their investment is well worth it. Just to let you know, the cavity for each component can easily be 50~150k usd, so we are looking at some 500k USD investment. With the labour, marketing, inventory, manufacturing, assembly, logistic cost etc, making profit out of this could be difficult.

Good points.

The community of FTO is not that big to allow too many FTOs to be sold.

The cube companies won't get a profit.

Counterpoint: If a magnetic FTO is released, the FTO community would grow as more people would be able to speedsolve the FTO.
Disagree, first you must have more people interested in solving FTO, then people will have interest to speed solve FTO.
People not solving FTO not because of bad hardware, it's simply because they are not interested.
There is a lot of us getting into 3x3 with a crappy cube, learn about cubing, discovered speed solve, gets speed cube.

So no, reason for FTO being not popular is not because of bad hardware, it's simply because of it doesn't seem interesting.
It's the FTO community need to work hard to populate it, show that FTO has got it's business potential,
then cube companies will be able to justify the investment.

One must remember, cube company might start off from their passion, but once they turn big, they have to make sure they make money. Passion is nothing compare to the money that keep the employee from starving, that's the social responsibility of the business owner. (edit: of course they want to earn money too.)

It ended up being Diansheng that has pledged to make a modern, magnetic FTO! I'm very excited about it, and I have been chosen by them (along with 22 other people) to test their prototype. I can't wait for FTO to become an official event soon
I've always wanted to try FTO but have not gotten round to buying one
But rambling aside this is really cool for the FTO community even if I am not yet a part of it
