Hi! I’m Cubist Guitar! I live in MD, I average 13 on 3x3, and I play the guitar! Not as much as I cube, but still! I hope to become sub 10 one day, but my biggest goal is to be the fastest person with my name in the state!
Mate I don’t think anyone else is called cubist guitar in ur state.

I average 11-13 on 3x3 (don’t like it much) (7.53 single)
3.2-3.4 on 2x2 (1.21 single)
54 on 4x4 (42 single)
1:40-1:43 on Clock (1:28 single)
3:40 on 6x6 (3:08 single)
1:25 on Megaminx (1:08 single)
7 on Skewb (2.08 single)
9.6-9.8 on 5x5 (5.15 single)
32 on Square-One (15.83 single)
25 on OH (19.31 single)

Grinding Clock the past three days, and got PBs in everything up to ao100

Single: 1:26.85 (improved from 1:28.89)
mo3: 1:33.81
ao5: 1:35.34
ao12: 1:37.55
ao50: 1:40.22
ao100: 1:43.64

Currently, my weakest points are when I pause during edge-pairing for up to 5 seconds and centers (those take me 35 seconds on average).

Should I main 2x2? I find that 2x2 is so much funner than 3x3, and I’d rather spend my money on 2x2s rather than 3x3’s. Looking to hear from 2x2 mains.
Yeah 2x2 is a fun event.

Learning algorithms is a big barrier to entry, but you know a lot of algorithms.

I find it more fun than 3x3. 2x2 is more fun to solve, and for me, it doesn’t require constant focus unlike with 3x3. The aspect of solving a 2x2 is very satisfying for me.

Also, if you are looking for competition podium, then 2x2 is a great event to take on. If you learn EG and get consistent with it, you could get a podium, especially considering the fact that a lot of people who are good at 2x2 do not focus on the event and thus bomb a lot of their averages. (Because 2x2 is very easy to bomb your average.)

Getting good competition results can be difficult though, so getting consistency down, especially under comp is VERY important.

Overall 2x2 is a fun event.

tl;dr: 2x2 is satisfying to solve, however it has a barrier to entry because of algorithms. (You have taken care of most of that though) Consistency is VERY important to get down, but with practice and time and the right competition you can get podium in the event.

I’m not exactly looking for a podium (I live in MD, so that means Callan and the Khanani brothers go to most of the comps), but being really fast (sub 2.5) sounds like an awesome goal to me.

Just did 115 solves today, and these are my results

Not the day I was expecting, but honestly pretty awesome! Got PB’s in everything today, and feel incredibly close to sub 3. All I need to do now is to real earn some of my worse CLL algs, finish up about half of EG-1, and practice the heck outta layers

I normally Don’t count 5+ second solves, but I Didn’t get too many (just when I messed up an EG1 case I didn’t know, which happened like 5-8 times today). I also am a bit looser when I see an EG-1 case I don’t know, If the solve ends up 5-6 seconds, I look at the algorithm, drill it, and continue. While this isn’t perfect, it helps me get better, (I learned 5 EG-1s today) and that’s all that matters. I will say that in my head, I add 0.2 seconds to make up for this, and another 0.2 because doing solves at home+music does make a difference for me.
