To be (a little) fair, i have a sub 2.5 avg and i got a 5.50 in comp today. Yes, maybe i +2’d and DNF’ed, but still a skill issue on my part.
thats more like what im talking about, dnfs and plus 2s on some solves is the only way
also something else is my 2.80 pr avg/ state champ average started out with me getting a 5 and almost dnfing that, not to mention i was kinda sleep deprived and i barely practiced pyra yet it being one of my main events up to this comp
so that also proves my point
and you getting a 5.50 average is fine and relatable, but adam over here getting a 7 avg and claiming to drop his avg to at least sub 4 before this comp is not at all relatable

Just saying, if someone averages 6 on 3x3 they won’t get 15 official averages, ever

Interesting 3x3 average from someone who claims to average almost sub 7

Agreed with most all of these. I’m really sorry to yall for disappointing you. I really let my anger from my expectations and (if I’m being brutally honest) at @Jorian Meeuse get to me that final round of 3x3 onward, and I almost was trying for a crappy average that was awful so that I could get sympathy from family and friends

I have no other words that could help my case.

I still believe that I truly and honestly do average around 7 at 3x3, but I’m not going around convincing anyone about anything now.
Whats done is done, I guess. Maybe it was the cube being not set up for comp, maybe it was the lack of prep on my part, but I failed and I should own up to it as a friend.

I’m apologize to everyone, but specifically Jorian. I hope that someday you can forgive me for my anger with you

Also, just want to note that adam, I think your amazing and I dont have any hate towards you
Your a great part to the community, and I hope to see you do better in comp officially, and I mostly believe you
Keep going man, your amazing

thank you! I also understand why this disconnect is happening. I talked with @Discomantis today, and it appears that my prep habits have been bad, and I’ve been preparing to fail instead of hoping to succeed (this strategy works with @Sombi McJunior , but not at all for me)
I will say that not stackmatting pyra for the past week or so hasn’t helped me accurately define my times (if I did an ao100 at once, with Stackmat , I would average maybe like 4-ish

Sorry i might have influenced you with my negative thinking 💀

Oh ok gotcha, I have done that before actually and it turned out ok

Guys, stop slandering him, please. I’ve seen him in person before and he definitely averages what he claims to. All this is doing is just trying to make someone feel bad. It’s not necessary. At all

I averaged 11 once and got a 21 average, it’s definitely possible
Unless you have a really terrible counting solve (I haven’t actually done the calculations but probably 35 plus) or use a really bad cube, it’s not. I don’t think you understand what it takes to be a 7 second solver. You have to have everything drilled down to near perfection. This is why faster solvers are naturally more consistent, because unlike slower solvers, they always have a plan and know what they are going to do. If we believe that @Cubist-Guitar is just really inconsistent, he still won’t get 15 averages, but 10 averages at worst, and even those only if he gets a bad counting time. Also, the fact that @Cubist-Guitar’s best single in the second round was a 13.9 (which is around double of what he claims to average) is proof enough that his reported times are untruthful. Furthermore, his averages for every single event were significantly higher than his claimed globals.

I’m not slandering him. I’ve tried to be respectful in all of my messages, but it is necessary to point out that his claims are not truthful, because obviously there are people that believe him.

But if @Discomantis has seen him solve in person, doesn't that mean he averages what he says he does?

Unfortunately, that argument only works if you think that @Discomantis has proven to be a trustworthy member of the general Speedsolving.com community. If you don’t, then the argument won’t work

I met someone in a comp who at that point averaged like ~14 but claimed he averaged like seven and proving that he did with set up hand scrambles but he wouldn’t let us scramble the cube ourselves, so Cubist could’ve done what that kid did.

I doubt he did that, he seems legit but idk what to believe after the comp

There’s nothing remotely indicating that he has been telling the truth other than the concept of “innocent until proven guilty.” All proof has indicated the exact opposite. Psychologically speaking (source: I took one psych class in college), his responses don’t seem calm and proving of innocence; they seem rehearsed to seem as natural as possible. In other words, he’s trying to seem innocent by being overly “fair” and “reasonable”. He’s acknowledged nearly every argument against him and then ended it “but I’m still telling the truth.” (i.e “trust me bro”). He’s relying on trust built with the rest of the community, but it’s trust he doesn’t have (source: I’d never heard of this person prior to the alleged cheating).

He could be legit, but for the reasons gsingh provided, it’s incredibly unlikely.

I don’t really care though, do what you want man. It doesn’t hurt me at all

I sort of agree even though he is one of my goods friends irl. I think he at least should have had one sub 10 solve at least for 3x3. Idk man it's hard to tell...

Prostar hitting the nail on its head as always

Which is why this confuses me a bit. You don't have to apologize man, you didn't do anything to me.

But I feel like it's only fair for me to say that if my post really did kill your comp mentality, then I apologize for posting it. All the best in your future comps.
