Can you use a non threaded core?

Hello

My MoYu aulong GT core broke and I ordered a new one but saw that it wasn't threaded. Can I force the screw in anyway or will that break the core? I would rather not have to order another one.

What should I do?
Answers appreciated!

Fun fact, most cores are unthreaded!

I'm not even sure if the screws follow the typical M1.5 M2 metric pitch either.
I think they do, but tapping threads into cores is inefficient when you have a material that can hold threads easily :)
