Hey Guys,

I remembered the 2-gen contest Lucas set up a while back and have been doing a lot of <M,U> 2-gen solving lately which is pretty fun and slightly faster than my <R,U> 2-gen. It is also the last step or two of the Roux method, EO then EP. I used the same scrambling technique as was proposed in the previous thread of using a normal scramble and just alternating between M and U moves. Here's how I made out:

----- Rubik's JTimer Best Average for Thu Oct 16 23:52:33 PDT 2008 -----

Average: 09.27 sec.

Fastest Time: 06.45
Slowest Time: 12.17
Standard Deviation: 01.27

Individual Times:
3) 09.76 U M U M U2 M U' M U2 M U' M2 U' M' U' M2 U' M' U' M' U' M2 U' M U
4) 08.33 U2 M2 U2 M2 U' M2 U2 M U M' U M U M' U2 M' U' M2 U2 M U2 M2 U2 M2 U2

... I'm too lazy to convert all the scrambles, but you get the idea. Also, i always started with a "U" move for the first turn.

5) 11.00 D' B F' D2 U2 F2 U' D R D R' U B U' D' R' F D2 L2 D' F B' D' R' D
6) 08.93 U2 L' F' R L2 B D' F' B U R D2 U2 R U2 L R2 F D2 R' D L2 F' U2 D2

8) (12.17) R' L2 U' B' R2 U2 R F' R2 F R2 B2 U L U R2 L D F L U2 R F' D2 U
9) 06.98 R2 U2 L2 D L' U' D' F' U B D' R' B L B D2 F D' L F U D R2 D2 B'
10) 09.32 L' F2 D2 U B2 L2 R2 B' U' B' U' B2 L2 B D2 F' B D2 U F2 U2 L2 D2 B2 R2
11) 09.29 D2 U B D L' U B2 U' R2 F' R2 D2 B U' D2 F D' R' D L' D B2 U' B' L2
12) 09.58 D' F2 L2 D' L2 R U F B U' L' F R2 D L U2 L' U' R L2 F L F B2 U'
13) (06.45) B U L' B' L' F' B L' D' R' D2 U2 B D2 R2 F2 R2 B L2 R2 U2 D2 F B2 L2
14) 11.25 B2 D2 L2 D F L F' U L' D B D U' B U' F2 D U B' L' U L' R2 F2 R'

How about everyone else?

I may try it a little later but not now, my right arm aces becuse of too much Square-1 latley, I'm doing those R2's all the time :(

This is a event that is possible to solve compleatly during inspection (predict all turns needed) if the case is not that bad, guess that's what Timothy did in that 1.38 and 2.11 :)

02.70, 04.30, 03.18, 03.56, 03.29, (04.78), 02.96, 03.62, (01.96), 02.51, 03.12, 03.26

Average: 03.25 seconds

I'm sure I could have done a little better but I was outside in the cold rain for a couple of hours. Cold hands = slow times.

I scrambled using a program Patrick Jameson made for me. I didn't use your scrambles because I was confused when I first read your post and somehow missed the part about replacing the moves with M and U, so I thought I was supposed to do a whole 4 step solve and only time Step 4. If that's a problem I'll try again using your scrambles, sorry. I'll probably do another average tomorrow, using your scrambles and/or using more from Patrick's program, if I'm allowed to enter more than once in this contest.

I'm sure if you convince Gilles to come to this topic he would beat everyone's times.

Question: Do you guys use your left hand ring finger for the M moves and the right hand for the U moves? If not how to you do it?

M' - Left hand ring finger
M - r'R
M2 - Ring, then Middle
U - Right index
U' - Left index

But I used to use my left middle finger for M' then realized that ring was better to be able to do moves like U'M' more easily.

EDIT: BTW, I just subscribed to your videos :)

Hope I didn't cause this to go off topic...

I gave it a shot but had not energy to look up the scrmbles here so I did it manually. Most of my times are in the range 5-10 seconds, some lucky ones under 5 and some badly performed ones over 10. In hard figures this makes about 2-3 TPS and that's a bit faster than my overall TPS.
