I don't however. As long as you know the 3 algs needed for Old Pachman, I think it could be possible. I got my first BLD success before I was sub-30, possibly sub-35. You could practice doing 2BLD first to understand the concept a bit better though.

I mean, you did not give a reason why you would need to be sub-20 to do BLD. You made a claim, and you have the burden of proof to explain your point, not us.

There are lots of very good blinders who are pretty bad at regular 3x3. If you want to go for 3BLD, by all means go for it.

If you already know some PLLs (specifically T perm, Y perm, and R perm) I suggest you learn Old Pochmann (Jperm has pretty good videos)
If you do not know these algorithms, it might be easier to learn M2 for edges and OP for corners. (You can also use Jperm to learn these)

There are few to none things about 3x3 that translate over to 3BLD(at maximum the PLLs used in Pochmann) except for Turning Speed so I don't see a point behind your reasoning.
If you start to learn 3BLD before you are sub-20, imagine how far in BLD you can be once you're sub-20.
