bldcuber314's Progression- Averaging 45 on 3BLD?!

Let's gooo!!!

So for reference around 3 days ago I was averaging high-mid 6s for Pyra, and a couple days ago dropped to around low 6. I didn't do Pyra yesterday, but then I did another session today and this happened.

3.71 ao5, down from 4.10.
4.39 ao12, down from 5.40.
5.35 ao100, down from 6.03(2 days ago) and 6.39(3 days ago).

These solves are primarily using LBL, as I was doing intuitive L4E earlier today and was averaging like 6 but then when I switched to LBL low 5s. I'm really liking this event at the moment, and might even consider making it into one of my main events!(Currently 2x2- 3.51 ao100- and 3BLD- 1:15 global although bad success rate)

It'd be great if somebody who knows about Pyra could tell me how these times translate to other events(like equivalent to 3x3 sub 15, sub 10 etc) and if I should consider having it as one of my main events.
defo main event, cause its short and sweet :)
ya u can good with lbl. to answer ur ques, it just depends on the amount of prac u put in for other events, idts it translates to other events.
to get good in pyra, u NEED efficiency, so like learn to build more efficient layers and tip-solving
if u want, i can critique ur solves, albeit i think u would prefer a much more advanced solver to critique ur solves :)
🔺🔺🔺^_^ ^_^ O.O O.O🔺🔺🔺
(guys im not UKcubefan)

I’m not sure about translating skill level, but if you are getting those times with lbl then focusing on intuitive l4e or l4e would make you good At pyra, so I would definitely recommend making it one of your main events

I average low 4, nearly sub 4 if you wanna know my skill level

I could also critique solves like @Exmestify , particularly for your int. l4e ones

Some updates on 3BLD. I'm averaging like 1:20, but with a horrible 25-30%ish success rate. A lot of these DNFs seem to be 3 edges off, even though I went back over the scrambles and my memo is often correct. Are there any mistakes that would cause this(btw I use M2/OP)? @Curunír @Jorian Meeuse @BVCuber13
Apparently, yes

what targetss do dey tend to be?
if you give me an example I might be able to give a sugestin

I tried recording 3x3 splits-

2.5 average for Cross + Align
7.5 average for F2L
5 average for LL

What should I work on?
Looks like your F2L is pretty OK for someone your speed. LL could use a little work (Drill OLL+PLL solves in cstimer was how I got from sub 5 to sub 4), but your cross is kinda abysmal, especially if you have a pause before first pair. Highly suggest either getting better at cross speed, or getting better at tracking cross+1 during your cross solve. Both can help you get much faster, but I recommend the former before the latter because improving cross speed is faster than cross+1

You may be skipping the M2 rule that when you get C, I, S, or W as the second letter in the pair, you have to switch to the other one and do those moves (switch C with W and I with S)

Do you know full OLL and PLL? If not, work on LL. Probably try to improve recog. Also, each F2L pair should take 1-2 seconds, or possibly less.

Thanks for the replies, I use primarily 2-look OLL and know 18/21 PLLs, but also some COLLs. I think I never really felt motivated to learn full OLL, as the both the first and second stage of 2-look OLL have extremely short and fast algs. My recognition is good. I think my F2L is pretty decent, I know good solutions for nearly every case, can recognise them well with decent lookahead and solve a lot into back slots. My cross is very bad, any tips on improving TPS for cross?

My solutions to most cubing problems generally end up being some variation of “drill this particular step on CSTimer”, and I think that still applies here. You can also use speedcubedb.com and its scramble analyzer to find better crosses and learn how they move the pieces around.5:

Also, consider learning how to get better at yellow cross, as this helps with finding a better cross if the one you have on white is objectively bad

As for dual colour neutrality, I'm equally good at both yellow and white already. I'll try drilling cross, and the speedcubedb analyser. Thanks for the advice!

I did it. 3BLD sub-1.

YESSS LET'S GOOO!!! 🥳🥳🥳

After over a month of repeated failures, it finally happened. So happy.
Congrats, also sub 50, now you need 2 more to finish the race that we did 3 months ago😅

Congrats! How long until 3 style!? Get learning 😉. 3 style corners is so fun ❤️
My thoughts on learning 3-style, it would also be great if you could give some advice(not sure how far you've gone with 3-style)

Against-

I'm bad at learning algs, and hundreds of them sounds totally terrifying. I know they're intuitive, but still...

For corners, I suck at D moves and on edges I've basically never tried E moves. As for S moves, I can do the RUS U perm decently, and use some S moves for M2, but I'm not great at them. Overall fingertricks might be hard.

3-style seems really hard, and there might be a lot of mistakes.

For-

It's so fast...

I can finally main BLD properly.

I've been learning 3s for the past day or two, I'll give you some tips once I can actually use it in solves lol. Also I'm not learning 3 style edges (yet). I'm going to be using m2/3 style for now, and then I'll learn 3 style edges once I'm ready.
