Hello,

Right now I'm still trying to learn full OLL but I'm struggling. I'm struggling to memorize, my recognition is bad. It's a little frustrating.

I have a few questions that I'm looking for feedback on.

1. What are some tips you have for memorizing and recognition?

2. How many algs in one day is too many (right now I'm trying for 2 a day)?

3. Do any of the smartcubes have alg trainers in their apps?

Thanks.

A big thing for me was understanding that the pace you can learn and retain algs isn't as dependent on the person as it is the amount of time practicing and actively recalling the algs. I used to be able to do ~4 algs a day, then went down to 1 a day, and now will do at most 1 algorithm a week. Even at that pace OLL would take less than a year....but I guess I am playing the long game lol.

For me, learning the algs isn't too bad if I can figure out how the fingertricks work, but connecting each alg to a particular case is hard, and I'll often do the wrong alg. Weird analogy time: Learning 2 algs per day may not be biting off more than you can chew, but it will probably give you indigestion. Be sure to take some days off from learning new algs to review and "digest" your recently learned algs.
