I mean was averaging 1:30 by the end of the first day but then again I did hundreds of solves lol

Come to the dark side, do skewb.(I average high 5/low 6, ) The Gan is the best(any version) but if you don’t feel like balling out $30+ then use the Moyu RS. You can get pretty good with beginners method, but at around 10 seconds I would recommend learning Sarah’s intermediate, which can get to ~5 seconds.
Sorry to throw all this at you, I just get excited when skewb is involved. Also Cubelite and Kivvi really like skewb as well
