4BLD is cooking my brain (Yann1qua12DagOat's progression thread)

LET'S GOOOOOOO!!! I have now learnt full CFOP! Today I learnt the last 11 algs, and in the past week I learnt over 20 of them. I am now going to do loads of 3x3 and 4x4 solves to get really used to using these algorithms, and then I will learn some alternate PBL algs for 2x2. After that, I have a LOT of options - what should I do?
I am considering learning Winter/Summer/Autumn(?) Variations or some F2L algorithms. Maybe I should learn EG-1 or something for 2x2 for my next comp in October? Any ideas would be appreciated, especially on what I should do now that I have learnt full CFOP so I can continue improving!

don’t learn any new 3x3 algs for now. Get used to OLL and PLL and then refine F2L and lookahead. I suggest learning CLL before any of the EG
 
I am now 100 off 2000 3x3 solves (a 5th of the way to getting an ao10000)! The best thing is, I have been averaging around 15.5-16.5 seconds in the past ≈200 solves, and I have gotten LOADS of PBs. 16 out of my 20 best ao5s have been in the last 100 solves, and pretty much the same goes for ao12s. I am very happy with my progress, and my time trend graph is also looking very nice. My order from the Cubicle also arrived a week ago, so I will review the cubes on that thread too!

LET'S GOOO!
I am seriously more proud of this than learning full CFOP - I finally solved my Ghost Cube!!!!! After an estimated 2-3 hours of raging at it a couple of months ago and then another 2 or so hours from around 8 am today, I finished the cube with no help (as in no friends who know how to do it, how to flip centers, etc.). I do indeed find the center flipping easy as I always put the centers of all my cubes so the logos face the green side - idk why - but it was absolute hell executing the algorithms (I got up to this step twice and then messed it up again both times). Luckily in the end the centers weren't twisted, and I finished it.
I will NEVER scramble this stupid thing again.

Woah good job on solving the ghost cube.

I have solved it twice and it was a pain. I am never solving it again yo
 
I have now been cubing for just over 6 months, and here is a quick little overview of my half-year's progression!
Also, I found out that ao2000s and ao5000s exist on cstimer too, so I got a big shock on my 2000th solve!
2x2
Main: Gan 251 M Pro
I use Ortega method and average around 4.8, and I currently global 4.98. I am planning on learning full CLL very soon, as I have already started learning the H cases. All in all, 2x2 isn't an event that I practise a lot, but once I start learning more and more CLL, I'll definitely practise it more.
3x3
Main: Gan 12 Maglev UV
I learnt full CFOP around a month ago (I think?) and I'm now pretty comfortable with it. I average around 17 or so seconds, but I'm completely capable of averaging just above 16 in a session if I'm feeling good. I'm not planning on learning any new last layer algs for 3x3 any time soon (but certainly some F2L algorithms for bad cases), but when I do it'll most likely be one of the ZBLL sets, if I'm dedicated enough to start learning one.
4x4
Main: Vin 4x4 Ballcore UV
This is my favourite event, and my averages on any given day really just depend on parity. With single parity I'm fully capable of averaging a smidge under a minute, but with double parity I average ≈1:05-7. Without parity, though, I will most certainly get under a minute unless I've done something very goofy, and those times range from 51 seconds to 59.999999999999998 seconds*. I love 4x4, but I really want to get better. This will hopefully happen eventually.
Other events
I also like to do 5x5 (I started practising it literally a week ago) and I average around 2:20-2:30. I hope to average sub-2 by the end of the month hopefully - it's fine if I don't, but it would be nice - so if anybody reads my post up until this point, I'd really appreciate advice for how to get sub-2 on 5x5 with Yau. The same goes for 4x4, as I simply do solves and no targeted practise at all (I'm too stupid to think of any single way in which I could possibly improve, so yeah...).
I do have a cstimer session for megaminx, but I don't really do that too much as I don't enjoy it a lot yet. Who knows - maybe I'll like it some day!




*59.999999999999999 secs doesn't count as sub-1 because I say so

Today I also practised 3x3 blindfolded for about an hour (very relaxing), and I managed to solve the cube 3 times by doing first the edges memo and then execution with my eyes closed, followed by doing the corners in the same way. It got better every time, and I am confident that I can solve the whole cube blindfolded soon (stay alert for some nice progress on this thread)!
 
I am now signed up for two competitions this year - Please Be Finished Brisbane at the end of August and Australian Nationals in October. I just found out that I won't be able to compete in 3x3 OR 2x2 for Nationals due to my family and I going somewhere else for the holidays from day 3 of the comp onwards :(. That's alright though, because I am still competing in 4x4 and 5x5 (which I hope to average sub 1:40/35 in by then) as well as 3BLD if I get a success at my Please Be Finished competition which shouldn't be too hard, right?
Either way, I have been getting pretty good 5x5 recently and I even got a Ja perm away from a blindfolded success this morning, so things are certainly going well.

5x5 improvement is going well - I just got a 1:59.64 ao12 on my 160th solve, and it could've been a sub 1:40 solve but I got a 1:44 PB fail because the Ra perm took 5 seconds.... anyway, it's nice to see that my practise is actually doing something and I hope to be a bit more active on this thread in the next couple of months, as I have a lot of solving to do before my 2 competitions!
