The 42 method was proposed in 2017. Since then, there have been many developments for the method. This thread will serve as an updated resource. In a discussion with Joseph Briggs, it was decided that we combine his work on 42 with my work on the brother method of FB > SS > L5C > L7E. Briggs developed CCMLL and I developed direct L5C and SL5C. The 42 name is retained and includes the various L5C possibilities as variants. This makes for a versatile method that provides users options and allows for additional advancements.

Steps
  1. 1x2x3 block on the left - First Block
  2. 1x2x2 block on the right - Second Square
  3. Last five corners - L5C
    • Option 1: Build the second square at a 90 degree offset with an attached U layer corner then use CCMLL. 42 algorithms.
    • Option 2: L5C or SL5C. 614 algorithms.
    • Other options available. See L5C in the Resources section.
  4. Last seven edges - L7E
    • Various strategies available.

Basic video guide. From the Roux method, but a good starting point for learning to build the second square.
