Hey everybody, 1x1 wr holder! here,
for the last 4 days, I have been brainstorming, 3d modeling and, 3d printing a brand-new original puzzle that I like to call the Compass Cube. Before I continue, I'm fairly certain that I have not accidentally copied anyone else's ideas, but if anything does seem oddly familiar, please take it as a coincidence. I have no current plans of selling or patenting this puzzle, I am just a 3d printing and twisty puzzle enthusiast. Also, I call it the Compass Cube, but please note that I am aware it is not exactly a cube. (I just like the name)
To begin, I have only made one other puzzle before, which was a 3x3 which I obtained files from the website https://Thingiverse.com. The Compass was my attempt at making something completely of my own. Nothing to complicated, but still fun. The puzzle takes inspiration from puzzles that incorporate turntables or dials, such as the pentacle cube. It also has aspects of a bandaged cube in the sense that it can only be turned across certain layers. Lastly, the puzzle has a 3x3x1 sort of aspect to it.
Here are some photos of the cube. It is still un-stickered hence the unique shape profile. The bumped-up center was included to give the solver something to twist the dial with.
