[Help Thread] How to Get Faster using the Fridrich / CFOP Method

I have very little experience with 4x4, but I mostly find that doing a few 4x4 solves before practicing 3x3 is a huge help for recognition. Also, when you first start F2L you don't really know where to look at and with time you start to automatically avoid pieces that have Up face colors on...

What's the fastest method for 3x3?

Say there's probably one easy way to calculate it : maths. You takes for each subset the odds to have a given case, the optimal way to solve it, and count the moves it takes. Moves such as B or F should probably count as 1.5, especially if these are odd moves, x y or z moves should also count...

[Help Thread] "What cube should I get?" The Puzzle Choice Thread

My weilong is well, but there's really minimal lube on the cubies. As soon as I put any drop of traxxas it feels gummy, but core is well lubed and tensions are good. Most of people don't put any lube at all on the cubies anyway. Both of my zhanchis are lubed the same way with one to two drops of...

[Help Thread] "What cube should I get?" The Puzzle Choice Thread

On precise moves I find my zhanchi faster, which you use, but if you like to be approximate and often turn with misaligned layers weilong is good, it butter turns in any way. I don't think weilong is as fast as people say.

I'd say a weilong is definitely something to try if you haven't already.

[Unofficial] My First Sub Minute using F2L!

I don't know what's the maximum move count for a pair, but I believe it is probably around 11-12 for certain cases, assuming you only use R, U moves and 3 slots are solved. Luckily, 75% of the pairs you solve have more than one empty slot.

    Most disappointing 3x3 cube?

It seems you proved your own point :D. Because my 55mm zhanchi is great, even though a bit too small for two hands, which is why I don't use it that much as I don't really do any OH yet. Edit: Also the most disappointing cube for me has been the vcube. Was popping like crazy even on tight...

How much did your average drop after learning whole OLL and PLL?

So why is it unnecessary ? I miss the point. It's like I tell you, I don't need a car, I can go to work in 1h by foot.

How much did your average drop after learning whole OLL and PLL?

I don't fully agree with this. Even though until sub20 F2L is being the hardest part to improve and should be the biggest focus, I think that learning OLL as soon as possible can only help later. All the solves you do when your learned full OLL will be using full OLL for the LL, which in turn...

    [Help Thread] Lubrication Thread

This is probably why from my experience, higher viscosity is less gummy, because it's is that thick that when you turn a face, the particles of lube on one side don't have time to attract the ones of the other side, but if the lube is too liquid I feel it becomes gummy since attaction happens...

    [Help Thread] Lubrication Thread

What cube do you try to lubricate ? I find my weilongs are the only ones I just can't get good results with. The general tip when lubricating is not to put too much. Also I find the higher the viscosity the less gummy the cube is. I feel that since the pieces are so close to each other, if the...

    [Help Thread] Sticker thread

Where can I get stickers that are similar to the ones the weilong comes with ? And what color would it be ? Bright or half bright ? I like the brightness of the stickers on the weilong which allows to keep a good visibility in darker environments, even though I think the hue of the yellow is...

    How to be sub 20

I hope I could help a little, but I'm no better than you, I just think I figured a few things out lately and I have a little idea on how I'll practice for the coming weeks. I wish you to get your times down too !

    How to be sub 20

Definitely for PLL, except it's a y or y' I always AUF instead, but I used to rotate, y2 would definitely be a killer. I also do it intuitive, and come with my own algs for F2L. But I just take a case and work it out on its own. Trying to find the way of solving it that works the best for me...

    How to be sub 20

I'm pretty much in your case except my cross is alright for my speed. My real bottleneck is my F2L pair solving. For the cross I've always taken as long as I needed to plan the whole cross, still, I need to look at my cross pieces but I know already how they'll move. Try to place your cross...

    Goals Thread

Goal: consistent 3x3 sub30 Deadline: February 6th because I told a friend visiting me that I would be sub30 by the time he comes, which is Thursday night. I'm averaging 32-33sec for about a bit more than a week now but I've been through a whole rework of my F2L which made me slower for a while...

    The One-Answer Question Thread [closed]

I have a 55mm zhanchi, a 57mm zhanchi and 2 57mm weilong v1. I find my 55mm zhanchi is the most controllable of all, very smooth. My two weilongs are quite slow compared to what everybody says about them ( cores are lubricated with 50k traxxas ). My 57mm zhanchi being the fastest of my cubes...

    How to be sub 20

Rather seems to be an amplitude to me, an average is the sum of your solves divided by the amount of solves.

    The One-Answer Question Thread [closed]

I base my calculations on 20sec average since your time split doesn't match your average ( you say averaging 21-22sec but the split 4+10+6 makes 20sec ). So, your cross takes 20% of the solve which is really poor, your F2L pairs take 50% of it which is alright, and your LL takes 30%. Therefore...

[Help Thread] OLL and PLL Discussion

Also, I call ******** on that one. You start learning CFOP whenever you feel like you want to move on. F2L takes a bit of time to get into and you have more algs to know for the last layer but it's not like you gotta do a 1mn check before you can get started. It's like if I tell you, you can't...
