I listen to mostly reggae. Aside from it being the genre I listen to the most anyway, I find it makes me relaxed enough to slow down a little bit and work on lookahead, which improves my times. However, on certain days I can't resist putting on some fast or hardcore metal. Depends on what kind...
I think it may be hard enough to keep your breakfast down let alone keep your cool enough to solve a cube in one of those zero-G flights (At least for me!) But that would definitely be interesting to try/see.
I have that happen all the time. It seems worse with stickerless cubes too. I just wash my hands every time before I cube and don't think about it. Also wipe my hands off on my jeans before each solve.
I use 4LLL and I average around 27 seconds. I have no doubt that my times will continue to go down if I keep getting better at cross and F2L. My problems are too many cube rotations, lookahead, and with those pauses. As said above it is crucial to learn F2L as well.
I learned from crazybadcuber. His intuitive F2L video is the one that helped me the most but he has a F2L Tutorial playlist too. I recommend learning intuitive opposed to algorithms because it will probably save you time. It depends on whether you are good at learning algs (I know i'm not)...
I think a 54.6 mm Fangshi should be good for you. My hand is 8 inches and I find it a little too small for me but it is still a great cube. (I have a Fangshi Illusion, they're cool!) I use a 57mm Zhanchi and it is perfect for me. As for your second question, I would suggest first learning CFOP...
When it comes to speedcubing alone, obviously the fastest person is the best. Now going back to having the most fun while cubing, in my personal opinion without having the super fast people to show us that it is possible I would not have as much fun striving to become faster. Hope that made sense?
I know right?! Also, you know you're a speedcuber when you let out a victory shout, and your girlfriend walks in and says, "New PB average of five?" True story haha. She puts up with my cubing, therefor she is a keeper!
Just had a moment today when my girlfriend said, "OMG PLL is on tonight!" I was confused why she knew what PLL was and what it was on, until she explained to me that PLL stands for the TV show "Pretty Little Liars."
Sorry if my wording was bit confusing, but yes I do realize you don't need to use one if you use the other. What I was asking was if you find it easier to you the D layer or if you find yourself using M moves often. Thank you for the advice. I will practice taking as much inspection time as I...
