    [Unofficial] 1 Year Delayed 4BLD Solve - Part 1/2

This is very impressive and all, but what everyone is clearly most interested in is what the thing on the back of your hand is. My personal theory is duct tape, but that leaves the question of why you have duct tape on your hand.

[Help Thread] Advice and Tips for Competitions

You don't need to be at a certain speed to go to a competition. Just go along anyway, meet some people, help out, and have a good time. You're only competing against yourself when it comes to your actual solve times.

    UK Championship 2015

DYK... The embroidery on the staff polo was at just the right height that my left nipple was chafed for the entire two days.

[Help Thread] Roux Discussion and Help

I'd say to learn the basic idea behind the recognition system from Waffo's site, but don't blindly copy it. Go to AlgDB and other sources to find algs you like and see what angle they work best from - basically try to minimise having to AUF between recog and alg, and make sure any AUF you do...

    Qualifying Competitions (US Nationals)

The size of a competition can be limited by the venue size. If a venue can only hold, say, 500 people, then you limit that competition's registration appropriately. This is a far more likely way the size of a large national or continental championship will be restricted. Anyone fast enough to...

James Molloy award for most devastating +2 (pair of flop flops to Gonzalo for missing Spanish NR by +2) AKA the Gouly-Molloy-Beahan award Simon Crawford award for most helpful (Atomic Kitten's Greatest Hits to Simon) Super Cereal award for luckiest single (tub of Lucky Charms to Jialin for...

The Glorious North 2015 (1-2 August, Manchester, England)

I'm very flattered that people enjoyed the comp so much. Many thanks should go to James and Adam too, without whom I'd have been totally clueless. DYK: - I got IDed at my local for the first time in 3 years? - Adam got IDed too and the bartender did a double-take when she saw his birthday? -...

The Glorious North 2015 (1-2 August, Manchester, England)

Because you went to the Edinburgh comp, we can't change your nationality this year (https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/regulations/#2e2). You'll need to bring ID to your first comp next year to get it changed, sorry about that.

The Glorious North 2015 (1-2 August, Manchester, England)

Goals: Be a good organiser. 3x3: sub-14 avg 5x5: unfairly beat Adam. Again. 3BLD: Hopefully win, but more realistically, don't DNF the first round and go out straight away. Oh and maybe get a sub-2 mean.

SSC (Shadowslice Snow Columns) 3x3x3 Method

That example doesn't work either. A more in-depth explanation of each step would help, as your "detailed" explanation doesn't explain very clearly at the moment. Also the turn metric you're using is called axial turn metric, or ATM.

The Glorious North 2015 (1-2 August, Manchester, England)

Registration is now closed, and no more competitors will be accepted, including those on the waiting list. Apologies to all those who couldn't get places and to the rest of you, we look forward to seeing you in August.

Still no sub-2, still no pints for you. A great time anyway though, nicely done.

    Speedcubing UK jackets?

Genuine offer: I will do a commission of people's faces for their jacket if someone finds a way to get them printed onto patches or transfers or something.

The Glorious North 2015 (1-2 August, Manchester, England)

What could possibly make the North of England even better than it already is? A cubing competition! Hopefully the first of many comps in the better half of the country. Registration opens on Friday 5th June at 7pm. http://www.ukca.org/the-glorious-north-2015...

How I devised my own Rubik's Cube method in 1980

Did an example solve to see how it worked out. It's better than most LBL solves, efficiency-wise, and very similar to Waterman (far more so than it is to Roux).
