Do a whole lot of solves where you focus on look ahead rather than fast turning. Do some averages of 100 - Make sure you don't stress out about your times, just try to get more and more fluid with recognition and execution of algorithms in solves. This alone brought my averages from mid-20s to...
Lightake takes forever to ship and actually arrive. If you're looking for the Zhanchi, I would recommend going to somewhere like icubemart, cube depot or speedcubeshop imo. They don't have free shipping, but it is much better than Lightake's shipping and still pretty reasonable.
I...
Hi, I've got some cubes for sale. I accept Paypal, and can ship internationally (just let me know if you're interested and I can get you a quote for shipping costs). Prices are in US dollars. Here are the cubes:
$35 x-cube 4: As new, solved like 3-4 times. Decided I wasn't seriously...
Actually, a huge amount of the best/most accessable cubing resources are geared towards cross on white, not just PLL diagrams (Badmephisto's videos, Weston's videos, Speedsolving wiki, among many others that I've seen)
It makes perfect sense for someone new to either switch cross colour to...
Also, if you're using green cross, I would switch right away to white cross, or work on being colour neutral. The vast majority of cubing resources (videos, webpages etc) are geared towards white cross on bottom. Green cross is just awkward, considering.
Yeah Cube4you used to be the go to site to get cubes from. Nowadays sites like icubemart, Cube Depot and Speedcubeshop etc are far better options in terms of speed of shipping and communication.
I currently use:
(R' F R F') R U' R' U R U' R' U2 R U' R'
Same amount of moves and I think mine might be a little faster. I've seen some better algs for this case, but I'm stuck in my ways.
I'll second that you should learn OLL at the same time as refining F2L. It's not like F2L and OLL are competing with each other. The sooner you learn full OLL the sooner your recognition and execution of OLL will go down.
I would say you could get somewhere between 15-20 seconds average.
I've been cubing a year now with quite a bit of dedication and effort and I'm averaging 16 secs or so. I've taken the time to learn full OLL, PLL and some COLL cases.
Edit: You should be practicing your cubing rather than...
Yeah a ranking system for the PLLs and OLLs would have worked well so that people could find popular/good algorithms easier.
For example, the Y perm that I use is the second from the bottom on the list of 14 algs.
I just don't even....
The amount of time spent on EO, if you're not going to be doing more efficient blockbuilding style F2L completely negates the time that you save on not doing cube rotations.
Here's my opinion on the x-cube:
It doesn't take too much work/lube to get the outer layers feeling really good. The inner layers are horrible however, and are scratchy as all hell. I don't know how much breaking in is needed to fix that problem but it's more time than I can be bothered with...
The trick is to not worry about your times. Take a break from timing yourself and just do slow, careful solves, making sure to optimise each stage as much as you can. Work on learning new algs for different cases, or new algs for the cases you know, but from different angles. Take a look...
Don't worry about your times at all. Don't worry about your times for like the next few months. Just focus on learning more and improving your skills. Faster times will result with practice.
Your turns per second when you are turning is significantly faster than mine, but I average around 16-18 seconds now, because I turn slow enough to look ahead. You spend too much time between solving pairs.
Full OLL does help too though.
Just got my Zhanchi, and I gotta say I like it a lot more than my Lunhui. In fact, my Lunhui was pretty garbage to be honest. I tried all the tensioning and lubing options I could think of, and it just wasn't as usable as my Guhong, not to mention generally harder to turn and heavier than the...
