Just solve a lot. You don't need to learn the colour scheme with mnemonics. That might be useful for you for 4x4 and 6x6 but for 3x3 just use the centres.
Fto may need you to have mnemonics because its colour scheme is complicated. But 3x3s have centres.
No Kilominx is just a bad idea for an event. It is going to be a fast event that is a bit scramble dependent and isn't unique. The top Kilominx solvers will be megaminx solvers.
Fto is far more unique and won't give people who specialise in a event a huge advantage over other people.
Struggled for motivation at the start and then remembered what comps were like for me in 2010-2014. I didn't improve much at all. But being in New Zealand I got to have a comp in October and December. We only spent six weeks in lockdown here. We have been back to normal or as close as for months...
I don't know how well that would work. Using exact notes would work unless you have perfect pitch. I good relative pitch might helpm unless you did something like the locations are the keys of a piano of the frets of a guitar. But those would be far to similar to each other in my mind.
The first one with the octopus core. I got it for free since lightake spend some out for reviews. They had werid requirements. Like at least 700 posts on here.
I got a gan air at nz nats 2016 with store credit for free too. And a heavily discounted gan pyra too back at my first comp after the...
But tps increases in last layer remember.
One good reason to use a good cube is to devolop good fingertricks.
Push turns for example. My turning has changed over the years I have cubed. With the addition of new fingertricks slowly over time.
Lube does make a difference. It helps cubes last longer and makes the feel and speed better.
The cube does affect you times but skill does too. But it is a much better element.
You can get sub 10 somewhat easily (the hardware won't hold you back) on any speedcube cube these days or...
Using Vandenberg with CSP the max is about this (averages are estimates):
7 slice for CS (average 4-6)
3 for CO (average is a little over 2)
6 for EO ( now this is more of a guess but 4-5 is probably the average)
6 for CP (JJ an NN are 3 and NJ JN are 5, the other two are 6. By a basic...
