  • in what order should I learn the CMLL algs? right now I know all of H, and some bad algs for other subsets that I found from fiddling.

(I'm learning CLL, not CMLL, but close enough)

I'm planning on H>Pi>U>T>S>AS>L. Also, are you using Kian's CMLLS?

    ok, makes sense
    yes, Im using Kians algs.
I tried timing my splits, to see what needs most improvement, but for some reason I did completely awful when recording them, and got things like eight second first blocks when normally both blocks take ten seconds. Rip.

Try doing a scramble, inspect, do first block, stop timer. Then repeat that 5x

Then do a scramble, solve first block, don't inspect, do second block, stop timer. Then repeat that 5x

And then etc. for CMLL and LSE. If you're fast enough to plan part of you're second block in inspection/look ahead then maybe give yourself only, like, 5 seconds of inspection or something.

    That's what I do :)

Yeah, it I think if might've been turning too fast, not fhe timing splits, because then I did some plain solves and got two 27s, when I averaged 21, but then I slowed down a bit so I could look ahead, and got two 19s in a row. so idk. One solve I got 12 second block, Jperm CMLL, and the a 3 second LSE though lol. I think I did do what you do, but then my average decreased and I forgot where i wrote it down.
I have a challenge for people with a high pain tolerance. Get a Rubik's 4x4, lube it with glue, scramble it, then do normal redux. Once you get to 3x3 do a ZZ solve, but you have to use only OLL parity to orient edges. Then solve LL with Sune, F perms, and MU U perms (and PLL parity if necessary). If anyone does it, please make a video.
    How bad/good is a 2:30 average for 4x4 if I average ~25 on 3x3?

Ok. =D I have just been practicing 4x4 for like 2 days, so Its kinda to be expected that I'm kinda slow. =P

yeah, I'd expect you'll get better soon

I just realised how much I suck at 4x4, considering I practice it quite a bit. I should be averaging 55 seconds but I average 1:25 and am extremely inconsistent
So, I calculated that we could store a map of all possible cube permutations, and what moves are needed to reach them, in around 80 exabytes, which is about the storage of 84 million laptops. It'd be great if we could get that much and make the map, alg generating would be so easy.
Whats a 4x4 OLL parity alg thats really easy to memorize? I don't care how long it is as long as its simple.

The normal one is super simple. It goes, Rw U2 x Rw U2 Rw U2 Rw’ U2 Lw U2 Rw‘ U2 Rw U2 Rw’ U2 Rw’

Ok,Ill try to memo that. I think I used to know it, but then i forgot cause i didnt do 4x4.

Ok, I think I got it down, I'll drill it a bit more though.
Do any other school aged people use Art of Problem Solving math in school? (Or am I alone?)

    No, I dont. I'm in year 7, almost 8

Ah, I'm in 7th grade, but I'm doing a 9th grade math cause I'm a nerd. Do you know how he difference between Australian years and American grades?
I use an online math class, and I'm trying to get them to join the Rouxvolution, wish me luck..

And my classmate gave up 20 seconds into Kian's tutorial, rip.
I took a 2 month break from cubing and my average only rose a few seconds,I'm surprised.

Yikes. Good luck getting it back down. Maybe it requires less practice to maintain your average around the 24 second area than 13. =P

Thanks, the break was from January. I've gotten it down to almost sub 12!

I just took a four month break and getting it down from 35 to 27 is tough...

My former PB (my PB as of Sunday) was 18.15. Maybe we could compete against each other on the speed solving competitions page and see who gets faster times. I'm not on very often though, so it might not work out. Btw, is that your first sub-20 PB? It's kind of fast.

That would be fun. =D i average about 25, and this is my second sub 20.
