Any thoughts on the 4.78?

Max seems to still be touching the cube with his left index finger when he stops the timer.

  • A6c) The competitor must fully release the puzzle before stopping the timer. Penalty: disqualification of the attempt (DNF). Exception: If no moves have been applied after stopping the timer and before releasing the puzzle, a time penalty (+2 seconds) may be assigned instead, at the discretion of the judge.

I would think that whoever has got the record first would still be considered as the WR holder... Let's say somebody breaks the WR average and the record stood for 5 years. Then somebody ties it. The first person to get the WR should still be the WR holder because that person did it earlier than anyone else.

Would Tymon still have the WR average because he had a lower single than Max? I’m not sure the exact rule, but I’m pretty sure that’s how ties are broken at least in one single comp.
It's considered a shared world record. Same as when Feliks and SeungBeom Cho shared the 4.59 single. Or when four people shared the FMC record average at 24.

I analyzed the video frame by frame and there is no point during or after the timer stop that Max touched the cube. (I ignored the timer display and focused on when his hands hit the timer)
