Hello, 39-year old noob here, who's driving his wife crazy

oh my, it is nice to see someone else that decided to pick this up later in life. I am 34 and just started two months ago. I flipped from Beginner's to CFOP to Roux within the first few weeks and now I am strictly Roux. I have gotten my time down to 40ish seconds but I haven't been practicing a...

Picking a title for a self introduction is so stressful so I'm not going to do it

So I thought I would be-bop back around here to let everyone know how I am doing. It has been a little over seven weeks since I started this journey and about a month since I last checked in. I started hanging out a bit more with Brest from here and have kind of made him my unofficial mentor. ;)...

Picking a title for a self introduction is so stressful so I'm not going to do it

It is funny that you mentioned the not timing myself because when I am practicing with my friend we still race but by myself I have stopped timing and I am practicing my block building. I am slowly teaching myself different ways to move the cube to pair my pieces together. It is helping a lot. I...

Picking a title for a self introduction is so stressful so I'm not going to do it

Yes you can call me Pitch. :D I look forward to seeing how I like blindfold solving, but I definitely won't be doing that until I can get better at what I am doing right now. I haven't been practicing as much I would like the past week so my times are pretty bad and I need to really get better...

Picking a title for a self introduction is so stressful so I'm not going to do it

Progress on my Roux technique is this... my PB is 1:22 right now but I am averaging 1:40... I just got comfortable with the L6E steps and feel better completing all of that. I think I am HORRIBLE at setting up my first two blocks and I don't know enough CMLL algorithms to make me happy. But of...

    Hi, new(b) member here!

Thanks for the welcome!! :D I am currently using a Dayan GuHong... I have been using it for hours everyday and last weekend when I cleaned it and re-lubed it, it is just amazing now. I love the feel of it. I quickly transitioned from the beginner's method to CFOP for a few weeks and now have...

    Hi, new(b) member here!

welcome!! I am new here too and have only been cubing for a few weeks. I have started learning the Roux method myself and find it enjoyable as well. What kind of cube did you order?

[Video] Roux as a Beginner Method

So my current average for CFOP is around 1min... after learning the Roux method (over the past day) thanks to your videos I am at 1:35min solving. I thought it was going to be a lot slower for a lot longer. Heh. Thank you again for these videos. I am excited to continue perfecting this method.

Picking a title for a self introduction is so stressful so I'm not going to do it

I switched to Roux because a handful of people suggested it based on my learning style and thought processes. So I tried it out to see how it felt and I have fallen in love with it. It works better for my mind than CFOP does. The focus on M and U moves makes my hands happy too.

Picking a title for a self introduction is so stressful so I'm not going to do it

Thanks! I appreciate the encouragement. My times are kind of shot right now though because I have switched to Roux yesterday and still haven't successfully solved it yet... but hopefully that will all change today. :D

[Video] Roux as a Beginner Method

i have been sitting here for the past 30 minutes and FINALLY feel like I can comfortably get up to orienting my last 6 edges... now onto the last two steps and if by the end of the day I can solve the cube within 4 minutes using roux... if we ever meet i am hugging you SO HARD.

[Video] Roux as a Beginner Method

YES! Thank you for this. This is awesome. You couldn't have posted this at a more perfect time for me. I was just talking with Brest last night about Roux, he was trying to help me understand. The last handful of steps are throwing me for a loop and all the other video tutorials and written...

Picking a title for a self introduction is so stressful so I'm not going to do it

Yeah I am not rushing into blindfold solving anytime soon but it will be on my list of things to try. I want to see sub 30 times pretty consistently with the Roux method before i move onto anything else.

Picking a title for a self introduction is so stressful so I'm not going to do it

So I started learning the Roux method this morning... first impressions... I love it. This feels natural to my brain. And yes blind fold cubing looks mind blowingly cool. there is no better way to put it. I think it will be something I will get into eventually. I mean, who doesn't want to look...

Picking a title for a self introduction is so stressful so I'm not going to do it

Hehehe. And thank you, I like the way I talk too. Now, the way I randomly run into walls or trip up the stairs... I don't like that so much.
