    What makes a Sub-10 cuber?

The transition between each F2L pair is what I also found was missing between me and sub 10 cubers when it comes to F2L. When I went from sub15 to around sub13 I noticed that there were more cases where I could predict where the next pair was easily and continue turning faster. And there are so...

How many algorithms can you memorize effectively per day?

I don't use images. The front of a card has a set up alg for example R' D2 L2 U L2 U' D2 R U2 and the solution would be (U2) R' U' R2 U' R2 U2 R. This way you don't know what case is coming and you can practice recognition. One step further would be do the set up alg then move the U layer...

How many algorithms can you memorize effectively per day?

Sure, give me a day or so and I will figure out a way to share it. I need to make some changes to it first like rename it to VLS and make the tags WV so that it becomes simple to add more cases for full VLS and then each subgroup is organized by tag in case you want to learn everything. I...

How many algorithms can you memorize effectively per day?

The best way I have found to learn a huge amount of information in a short span is to use spaced repetition software. This way you can over learn the amount of algs you can mentally take in a day and over time get practice on the ones that you have trouble with. This is if you really want to...

    [Unofficial] 8.77 ao5, 9.80 epic fail 3x3 ao12

Nice angle. Whenever I try that turning style I can get fast singles but I'm not consistent at all.

[Help Thread] F2L Discussion and Help

Oh well Feliks in particular doesn't really drill steps he just does full solves so he probably likes the full experience and has shown what's possible with that method of practice. Many cubers get fast this way by practicing everything at once. Alex on the other hand is someone who I believe...

[Help Thread] F2L Discussion and Help

It's very common for people to focus on what they are good at but if you want to be as good as possible then it's important to focus weaknesses. So as long as you understand that you can go far. And I'm not sure what you mean by pass this state of cubing. If it's the breakdowns I described then...

[Help Thread] F2L Discussion and Help

Well your F2L pairs is about as good as a sub14 cuber. And I wonder if you accounted for recognition time in OLL and PLL as that can take seconds for some people pushing you up to 20 seconds. If you decide to isolate practice for cross do cross+1 because you want to practice the transition...

[Help Thread] F2L Discussion and Help

I assume the 7 seconds is not including cross. And for that 7.5 is enough to get sub 15. cross+1 or LL is probably your main problem then if your speeds are accurate.

[Help Thread] F2L Discussion and Help

Practice/learn new patterns. That is literally all there is to F2L whether you are going for sub 6 F2L or even faster. The reason practice is always said and the reason it will eventually make you faster is that over time you will pick up on new patterns subconsciously. If you know all your F2L...

I'm pretty sure Ilkyoo graduated and moved back to Korea for a job so there should be some more competitions there in the future.

    Improved 2-Sided PLL Recognition System

Like anything in the beginning it is slower to recognize than looking at more than 2 sides but it's the end goal that matters and getting to the point where you don't have to think is when you have mastered it.

    Improved 2-Sided PLL Recognition System

For me it is. I've been cubing for years and there is a very small percentage of cases that I can recognize from 2 sides. I'm sure if I kept doing solves eventually it would come to me but I might as well spend an hour analyzing the differences now so I can practice it in solves immediately...

[Help Thread] How to Get Faster using the Fridrich / CFOP Method

Practicing algs alone won't improve recognition. You could do LL scrambles and time yourself with no inspection and then you are practicing recognition also. Learn some basic two side PLL recog. Recognition only gets better through practice and so while drilling a single alg can help a little...
