    Stretching out the springs

Sorry, I don't have a digital camera nor a scanner, so it would be hard to take pictures and put them on my computer. I did, however, find a picture of a random cube online and decided to make a diagram that one. So, on the first day, you may want to place each pair of playing cards (I used two...

    Stretching out the springs

It may, but from experimenting with my cube before, any looser and pops would be pretty frequent. By stretching out the springs, my cube turns better with the same tension on the screws as before. So even though it's looser, it still isn't as likely to pop as if I were to just loosen the screws...

Sorry. Edited. I mean stretch out the _springs._

    Stretching out the springs

Hey. I haven't seen many people mention this part of making a speedcube, so in case nobody knows about this, I figure I'd mention it. So I just received my new DIY about a month ago and have been working at making it into a speedcube. First I broke it somewhat in by using it for a couple of...

A few questions before I lubricate my cube.

I think it's a problem easily fixed. Just break in the cube by solving it a bunch of times. It should turn out fine.

    Rubik's Revolution

http://pcnews.tv/139/a-new-spin-on-the-iconic-rubiks-cube/ From the looks of it, you can't even turn it. I'm not sure what kind of audiences this will attract if you lose the flair of the original cube. It looks like it can be a not-to-far-off spinoff of Simon Says. That's just my uneducated...

    Cross-F2L Transition

You have a point. Skipping LL would probably be better. About the 1 second rule, I didn't mean to imply that you're doing nothing but just watching your cube for a second. In that second, you're doing things like spotting as many pairs and possible pairs as you can so you can easily follow up...

    Cross-F2L Transition

Okay, so I just tried this "experiment" where I record a controlled session that I solve normally and a session where I stop for about a second (I think may have stopped for 2 seconds once or twice). Since it's an experiment, I've decided to organize it like one (terribly, I might add) to make...

If I were to learn more algorithms...

To add to the silicone issue: it will slow down your cube if you use _too much_ of it. You only want a thin film, and even then, it might slow it down a little bit. But when you use it and break it in, it'll make your cube a lot faster than before. Also, for reference, here's Thrawst's guide to...

    Online Timer

Personally, I use the online timer a lot more often than JNetCube since I like how it saves all of my records. All the way back to my horrible 75-second averages. It's kinda nice to see how you progress. Not to say JNetCube is a bad timer, though. It has a lot more features than the online...

I use 15 algs but know 60, how 'bout you?

Not as many as some others. I know all 21 PLL, 10 OLL for 3-look LL and another random OLL that I learned from the Y-Perm PLL. So that's about 32.
