Hi! I'm Ava (2016MONE01). I've been cubing for nearly 7 years now, and competing for almost 5. I turned 18 recently, and I go to Vassar College where I study elementary education and international studies.

BASICS
I don't do 3x3 much, to be honest. I average sub 14 with a PB single of 8.73. I don't really intend to get faster at 3x3 at the moment.

BIG CUBES
I specialize in, and practice most frequently, big cubes of all kinds. 7x7 is my favorite event. I am currently sub 3:35, with a PB single of 3:17.
I'm also big into 5x5, where I average around 1:25. PB single of 1:10.76.
6x6 is fun, but there's sooo much parity. I average about 2:30. PB single of 2:18.

BLIND
I can solve 3BLD and have had a few successes. It's def something I plan to work on!

COMPETITIONS
I compete all over the northeastern USA, from Maryland to Massachusetts. I've attended 3 Nationals. Continentals 2020 would have been my 4th!
I've made it to finals for only 5x5, but I make round 2s semi-often.
I really can't wait to compete again after this pandemic settles down!

PODCAST
I will soon be launching an investigative podcast into the incident at the Perry Open 2013, involving Martin Telesforo and the faked 4.41 world record. I will be posting more about that as it comes to fruition.

This is the first I've heard of this, probably because it was so blatant. The only major incidents I know of are Matyas Kuti and Haiyan Zhuang.

Welcome to the forums! It seems like we have a lot of similar times! I'm a few seconds faster at 3x3 and 6x6, but we average about the same for 5x5 and you are a lot faster than me at 7x7. I've not had much time for cubing but now that my football season is over I'm getting back up to speed. It's always great to see a fellow big cube fanatic on the site. Do you do any other events?

Welcome to the forums! Here is a trick to avoid triple parity on 6x6. Finish all of your edges, and if you have parity, don't do it. Pick a cross color so the parity edge will end up in your last layer. If you aren't color neutral, do a Uw Dw' Flip Uw' Dw or something like that to make the edge yellow. Then, when you get to OLL, you can be sure if you have inner or outer parity.
