The WCA should request for IWGA(International World Games Association) membership, if they haven't done so. Membership with the IWGA will provide better exposure for cubing as a sport since,
"The principal aim of the IWGA is to develop the popularity of the sports governed by its Member Federations, to improve their prominence through excellent sporting achievements, and to conserve all the traditional values of sport through The World Games."

IWGA membership will also make it easier for cubers to attend events since the IWGA is recognized by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) and,
"The IWGA is aware of the importance for athletes and officials in all sports to participate in The World Games as nationally representative delegations. To achieve that, the IOC encourages all National Olympic Committee to support and assist their multi-sport delegation taking part in the event."
My guess is that with the support of your country's National Olympic Committee you, as a cuber attending the World Games, will have less to worry about in terms of logistics and finances.

The IWGA sports are divided into six categories:
Artistic & Dance Sports
Ball Sports
Martial Arts
Precision Sports
Strength Sports
Trend Sports (Includes things like surfing, water skiing, rock climbing)

Which one of those would you propose putting speedcubing in?

Trend Sports

is it a sport though?
I think it is since there is some level of physical exertion (especially if you use a Rubik's brand):p But it's more of a sport because of its competitive nature.

CUBING IS NOT A SPORT

It doesn't have much physical exertion so little it's not worth mentioning
neither is Chess or Cup Stacking

You may degree with me but what ever. I don't want to get into a debate

Hang on. There's probably some kind of catch to this. I would ask questions such as:
- Do we have to hold cubing to Olympic standards and regulations?
- Do we have to limit the number of competitors from each country, in order to have "nationally representative delegations"?
- Do major cubing competitions have to be held at the same time/place as major athletic competitions?
- Does this give us money (transportation and organizing expenses, etc.) or does it cost us money?

And most importantly, do we get to spend 4 years training at JUST cubing? :D

I don't think the IWGA would consider cubing a sport considering it doesn't seem to fit the examples they gave for trend sports very well. But here is a relevant quote from the "sport" wikipedia page:

Sport is generally recognised as activities which are based in physical athleticism or physical dexterity, with the largest major competitions such as the Olympic Games admitting only sports meeting this definition,[3] and other organisations such as the Council of Europe using definitions precluding activities without a physical element from classification as sports.[2] However, a number of competitive, but non-physical, activities claim recognition as mind sports. The International Olympic Committee (through ARISF) recognises both chess and bridge as bona fide sports, and SportAccord, the international sports federation association, recognises five non-physical sports.

... there could be a world games specifically for intellectual/mind sports that is separate from the world games that we know today.
That sounds like a good idea (Not to say that the games currently on the IWGA list don't involve any intellect). It is a path to take if the WCA isn't given consideration by the IWGA.
