Ok, so I've been using Roux exclusively for about a month now and have gone from just under 2:00 to approx 38 seconds as an average in that time over 600(ish) timed solves (previously averaging 27 or so with CFOP). My main focus in the last month (in slow practice) has been on block building as that's the most "alien" part of Roux to me and in general, it's starting to come together a little bit albeit I'm not overly efficient or fast at spotting pieces - that will come with more time no doubt.
Up until now I thought I was pretty good at CxLL / L4E albeit I'm using 2L CxLL (ie. OLL + T/E-perm) but I just did some timed solves using csTimer and breaking the solve down with the "multi-phase" feature and now I'm not sure what I should be working on. I'm sure I read something that said to be breaking 40 using Roux the phase timings should be 8-10-8-14 in which case it IS my block building which needs improvement, especially second block... I'm still not able to plan the entire first block out during inspection although I'm getting to the point where I can plan the "square" and see roughly where the last 2 pieces will end up.
In the following table, the values (left to right) are total time, first block, second block, corners, last 6 edges:
These solve times are a bit slower than my usual due to having to press space between phases but I guess the relative proportions are representative...
The question is, am I correct and I should be working mostly on the blocks or is it worth starting to learn CMLL?
Edit: Oops... as pointed out below, yes L4E should indeed be L6E (ie. last SIX edges) - doh!
