Sorry Europe! I've been doing nothing but math and completely forgot that DST ends a week earlier for you.

    __

Continuing with what has now become a tradition, I'm once again organizing the annual Negative Time Solving Contest. The scrambles for this year and the time submission form will soon be posted there.

DST (Daylight Saving Time) ends in most parts of the United States and Canada at 2am on Sunday, November 4. See Time and Date.com to check the clock change schedule in your area.

Please note that each solve started (not just start the timer but actually make a move) before daylight saving ends and completed after it ends counts as a negative solve. This means that you can simultaneously compete in 3x3 speedsolve, 3x3 BLD, multiBLD, etc, at the cost of some extra time in your negative solve.

Once again, thanks to Tyson Mao for bringing this great Caltech tradition to cubing. Good luck to all participants!

Australia (at least for ACT, SA, NSW, VIC, TAS) did go into daylight saving at 2AM on October 7, 2012. It will end in April 2013.

The states QLD, WA and NT do not observe daylight saving.

It means that every summer, there is five time zones across the nation ans you can do a real life Star Trek "time warp" on the Gold Coast
when crossing from Tweed Heads (in NSW) to Coolangatta (in QLD).

That's nothing. There's a 100 mile region in AZ where we've got this:

    ne_arizona_time_zones-3.jpg

Yellow does DST, Gray does not. Starting from outside the Navajo region, you can change your clock 8 times.

Ya... southern hemisphere moved their clocks forward a month ago, not backwards. You can't have a negative time solve when you automatically gain an hour.

Too tired after Indiana 2012 to do something big. 3x3x3 BLD: -57:48.88. Awful, but at least I got it.

Congratulations to qqwref on his successful 2x2x2 - 8x8x8 OH relay in negative time! But I've gotta know - was it with zero table abuse? (I'm guessing it probably was, even though that sounds insane - and painful - for 8x8x8.)

I definitely dropped the cubes a bunch, and used the table to align layers a few times, but yeah, I did basically everything in the air.
