First 4BLD attempt had ~75% of the cube solved in 32:02. 2 flipped corners and a lot of edges and the l amd r slices. I think I did the centers correctly.

Here is the scramble
DNF(32:02.31) B2 L2 D2 B' U2 F U2 R2 D2 B' D U' B L' R' D U L' D' Uw2 L R' B Rw2 B' R' F' L' B' Rw2 Fw2 L D' Rw2 D' R' Uw B' Fw Uw' D' R2 Uw' Fw D2 x' @2023-03-23 18:04:18

Second attempt off by 3 edges and a slice move
26:54.29 D2 U2 F2 D2 L' B2 L R2 B2 L2 D2 F2 B' U' F R B L2 U B D' Fw2 R' F2 Rw2 D' U2 Rw2 L Uw2 Fw2 U' R2 F2 Fw U' L2 Fw R2 B Rw2 Uw' B F' Rw z' y2 @2023-03-23 19:17:16

and 3rd off by two flipped edges
picture is 2nd

I was at UIUC Spring 2023 yesterday. Failed at BLD - only one success, 2:03 (very slow), and 7/12 in multi.

But my big fail was not that - it was that I was in the first group.

The third scramble for the second group was crazy good. I just tried it at home and got a 58.91 on it, when I'm currently averaging like 1:40 or so. (It's my first sub-1 3BLD solve since almost a decade ago!) The amazing scramble:
L2 D2 L2 B2 R2 U' B2 F R2 U L' D' R2 U' F L' D B' F' Rw

I guess only Carter Kucala took advantage of it - he got a 17.81 and won the event. But I saw several others who unfortunately DNFed it, with memo times of like 7 and 8 seconds. I feel so sorry for them - it would have been even worse than being in the wrong group like I was. :)

I am a BLD n00b. Learned OP corners a year back, too boring and move intensive solves (I use Roux for more interesting 3x3 solves) - and never got to edges.

Now I just started learning intuitive 3-style with simple 4 step commutators (8 moves) - and sometimes too long setups. Sometimes I learn using the cheat sheet. But unless I concentrate, I keep failing, making everything just as well scrambled as before I started.

If I do it with an on-screen solver, everything is fine (algdb.net etc). But it seems like I end up skipping a step/reversing a move during execution if I do not have the letters to look at. Really annoying. Need to try some more. Really like intuitive 3-style corners over OP, even as a beginners method.

Got around to trying out this scramble, and got a 32.02 with 11.77 memo lol. My best single is a 38 and I was using a non-magnetic 3x3 lol
