If Erno Rubik designed the Rubik's Cube in 1989 and patented it in 1990 AND if Hrsel and Kopsky patented "Back to Square-1" in 1975 as opposed to late 1990, do you think the Square-1 would have effectively become the Rubik's Cube gaining mass popularity and beginning the trend of speedsolving? Or do you think it would have been classified as "too complex" and therefore those who tried it probably would not have given it much thought and speedsolving would not have begun until the 1990s?
