I think for the parts of the wiki such as [wiki]oll[/wiki] where there are a bunch of cases people should be able to vote on the case they like best so when someone goes looking for and algorithm they can look at the more popular ones before the ones that may not be as fast.

Fixed - check out this wiki extension that I've been working that does exactly that:

Integration into the algorithm pages: http://andrew.theklises.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vote

Cube Ratings:
3x3x3 - http://andrew.theklises.com/wiki/index.php?title=Cube_Ratings
2x2x2 - http://andrew.theklises.com/wiki/index.php?title=2x2x2_Cube_Ratings

Note - you can click on the stars to vote

Also, you can view how it works here: http://andrew.theklises.com/wiki/index.php?title=Template:AlgVotewStyleChoice
Those aren't really instructions, but looking at the wiki code should give you an idea of how it works.

The thing to know about the extension is that it doesn't work unless you are logged in, so you can use this account if you like:
Username - Guest
Password - rubik

Patrick wants to add it, he is just busy with finals at the moment

I would hate that. People should choose an algorithm because they like it, and shouldn't feel pressured into using an algorithm just because a lot of other people use it. They should give them all a chance.

Maybe it's just me, but I always seem to overlook good algs and end up with bad ones until I figure out there's a better one weeks later.

Agreed, hopefully my voting mech can fix that issue. There are just too many algs on the wiki for anyone besides the most dedicated or best cubers to satisfactorily test them out. The voting extension should make it so it is easy for everyone to cut straight to the cream of the crop. (http://andrew.theklises.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vote)

Also, I think it provides a pretty good way for us to democratically decide which cube is the most "popular". (http://andrew.theklises.com/wiki/index.php?title=Cube_Ratings)

I love this idea because some algorithms everyone seems to use different versions of and I dont want to learn 10 I want to try out maybe 3 and decide on my favorite

Maybe One vote per person but the freedom to change it whenever they want (because they have a new alg they like)?

Yeah, like people will actually bother to change their vote >_>

I think the idea is for people to roughly identify which are the better OLLs to choose from since there can be too many options for a certain case.

Though I personally don't think a voting system will be useful because the vote of a 1min averager has the same weight as a 9s averager
