How can i make my 4x4 better

A couple days ago, i bought my first 4x4 (Rubik's brand). after lubrication, its amazingly fast, and loose, reminiscent of my old 3x3, but it locks up horribly. I dont have a drenel or sandpaper (i use a skateboard to sand my 3x3:fp), so i cant do the squircle mod. does anyone know of a way i can fix these lockups?

Buy a QJ?

i can try, but ill have to buy another 4x4 first, just in case

Don't bother with rubik's bigcubes, just find a way to get QJ's.

well at first i only bought it to learn how to solve, and i would be done with it, but ive recently gotten fascinated with speedsolving big cubes

throw it away

buy a mefferts

buy a small bag of sand
pour some in the cube and solve it a couple of times
then pour it out
works pretty good for me

sell it to suckers at school

buy a QJ (you could buy 2 of them if you sold the rubik's at the original price)

Buy the Mini Qj 4x4 and don't lube it since it already comes lubed. Just break it in.

i perfer to go as far as i can with storeboughts before i look online...

Storebought 3x3's can be taken far, but that's about it, aside from magic. For bigcubes, you need the internet, or you will be at a serious disadvantage that you can do nothing about.

If you manage to sell the Rubik's 4x4x4 at its original price then you can buy both QJ 4x4x4

i have enough money (cash), but im waiting until about 2 weeks (i have a football game in tampa in 2 weeks.).

i could give the money to my mom after the game in tampa though

I would buy a QJ 4x4. They're only about $14 USD on Ebay and some sellers offer free shipping.

BTW Mini QJ is cheaper (and Better) than normal QJs

re-tooled or pre-tooled rubik's?

Pre-tooled are good once broken in and lubed.

i think its retooled, i got it just recently from kmart

are you sure the squircle mod is the only way to reduce lockups (besisdes years of breaking in)
