This was mentioned by Chris in the Random Cubing Discussion thread, but I figured I'd go ahead and post it here as well:

Still in that "getting used to it" phase where I'm familiarizing myself with NMB and CN, so my times are dropping very quickly, but progress feels slow -- I don't actually feel like I'm getting faster, but my times are dropping. An unmotivating thing.
Congratulations! That's awesome.
I'm semi-colour neutral with CFOP (I'm quite a bit slower than opposite colour neutral), but since my main method is now Roux, I'm now learning how to be CN with it (or as you put it, I already am, just slower) as well as implementing non-matching blocks into my...
Great point.
In essence, it looks like you can choose two paths then when it comes to practicing algs, and both come with their tradeoffs:
1) Systematically lower your global average as quickly as possible (i.e., "do G perms over N perms").
2) Systematically lower your global average slightly...
I realize that it's certainly important to be fast at ALL of your algs, but if you're taking such a systematic approach to improvement, shouldn't you factor in the chance of each case?
For example, assuming you are using no "tricks" (like CxLL) to influence PLL, you're far more likely to get a...
All M moves with left hand (pinky, ring, and index) all the time and any U/U'/U2 with right hand, although occasionally I'll do U moves with my left, but only if my hand is on position after an M slice.
For H perms and Z perms, it's always left hand ring/middle and right hand for U's.
I think it's unfortunate how much bad rep the cube is getting even before it's release.
I'll probably end up getting it at some point, but the price will determine WHEN I do that -- Hoping for ~$20, but I don't see that happening ):.
Attempting to simultaneously switch to full-CN roux while switching to opposite and adjacent NMB as well, along with hyperorientation of course (I'm using 2-look atm).
Not sure if it's a good idea to try doing both at the same time, but I was never so focused no getting fast at 3x3, so I...
Got a few sub-30s using full CN and opp/adj NMB with 2-look hyperorientation recognition for CMLL.
Opposite NMB is probably worth it, but adjacent causes too much recognition lag in L6E :/.
Any fast recognition systems for L6E on adjacent NMB? I've messed around with it for a while and can't find anything decent.
I guess I should say, specifically for orientation. Permutation isn't... bad, but orientation is a nightmare.
Average movecount is practically the same in HTM, but I think COLL+ELL may win out slightly in STM.
Recognition is probably slower, but in my experience the algs (especially for ELL) are faster in COLL+ELL. Some ELL cases are pretty difficult to recognize. To me, they are probably about the...
Yes. This goes for any puzzle. Also try to push for constant, smooth turning instead of bursty turning -- always be looking ahead. It will help you more in the long run
