When I give the cube to other people so they can scramble it for me, I always get accused of memorizing their scramble sequence because I am looking at the cube while they do it.
I remember my start thoroughly. I had been over at a friends house and I saw that he had a Rubik's cube (Wal-Mart brand). He could solve one face of the cube pretty much at will and I became angry that I couldn't even solve one face of the cube. So, I borrowed it and I looked up an online...
I do have to say that learning 1-look OLL, while certainly improving time, is quite overrated and that learning how to execute F2L quickly will carry you farther than anything. Once you get equipped with a 2-look OLL and quick PLL, you can get under 30 during a lot of your solves so long as...
I was thinking of speedcubing training exercises/games that would be helpful (such as the metronome game for F2L, etc.)
I came up with a which could really help improve the various steps of the Fridrich method. (the game can be modified towards any method though. It goes like this:
Have a...
Too bad this solve is the same as my 5x5 time and my time for the 7x7 is like 10 minutes... GOD I SUCK AT BIG CUBES HOW CAN I SUCK SO MUCH AT THE 7x7 AND BE DECENT AT 5x5.
I wish there were a more formal way to do edges. I've gotten pretty quick at them over the past few days but my method is basically a messed up "grab-bag" of various things i've seen...
Most important "Founding People":Erno Rubik David Singmaster (layer by layer) Jessica Fridrich (Fridrich Method, probably the most famous one in the speedcubing community), Lars Petrus (Petrus Method), Minh Thai (first World Champion ever)
Honorable mentions: Waterman (most advanced corners...
When I got to the sub-30 mark I basically just kept the same method until I got to where I was at now (about 25 seconds average).
Not particularly great advice lol. Im going to do some alg memorizing like crazy and learn some of the tricks for F2L in preparation for Nationals (which...
Yeah I know.
Its frustrating that this edge pairing went rough on my PB because sometimes it goes relatively smoothly. If it had only gone a little better I would be sitting with a 2:20 right now...
This is my 5x5 personal best at 2:35.
I would like to get my center solving time down to 30, speed up my edge pairing by about 15 seconds and definitely speed up my 3x3 segment by about 5 or 10 seconds if possible.
In the long run I hope to get sub 2 minutes...
The 42 algorithms can also be extended to intuitive F2L, since it is mostly the same thing except derived independently and perhaps a little bit different, but not much different. I use intuitive and when I looked at the 42 algorithms for F2L I noticed that about 95% of my moves where the exact...
NOTE: I didn't know if this should be in the Beginners forum because of the time range I am talking about, but a moderator may move it if he/she finds it to be in the inappropriate forum.
Alot of people are lodged in the 22-23 second range when using the Fridrich method. This range seems to...
So... who do you think takes the crown of the greatest speedcuber of all time?
I think the best speedcuber overall Erik Akkersdijk. I first noticed him with his 9.77 second solve. For single solves 9th in the world for the 3x3, 3rd in the World For the 4x4, and 1st in the world for the 5x5...
