I'm gonna reboot my dead account to chime in. This isn't a direct comment on OP's statement on ZBLL, but I want to get it out there: learning this method may break you.
When I last participated in the cubing community, ZBLL was the next best thing. My semester abroad in high school was just...
Yeah blocks are recognized faster than directly comparing stickers, so ZZLL definitely has a recognition advantage there.
My ZBLL isn't nearly where I want it. This time last year I knew all of U and H. Now I remember one COLL set of H (but the rest is coming back fairly quickly). Time off...
I'm back. Sort of. I still have a lot of work to do, but I've started memorizing ZBLL algorithms again so technically I have returned. It might have even happened a month ago when I posted new ZBLL algs. Time flies...
Hmm... Maybe I should have updated my ZZLL doc with my ZBLL. I was under the impression that people used it less than my ZBLL sheet (can you use something less than 0 times?). At least you kept it going. Some of the cases just aren't great no matter what, but I'm very happy you kept it updated...
Haha yeah I really like ZBLL. More than is healthy, really. I think most people are in your position: they like to look at it and maybe tinker a little bit but really will never attempt it.
And sorry, but I don't go to school in the region. I just changed my location because I'm home for...
Update 9/3/2012: thanks to an email I received it looks like I didn't have everything in correctly. Specifically CO on 2GLL Sune. So with that minor update I need to set this up again:
ZBLL Algorithms.pdf
ZBLL Algorithms.doc
ZBLL Algorithms.odt
Sooo…. I've been away for a very, very long...
I've been trying to cube more and more recently, but I just don't have the time. I need to do research and I have 2 full time jobs this summer (only one pays though). Maybe I'm a naive soon-to-be-high-school-graduate, but I just feel like working is more important. I really want to finish ZBLL...
I will say that as a VH user COLL recognition is absolutely instantaneous. I actually recognize based on sticker pairs faster than tracking yellow pieces for OLL (assuming yellow U), even with all edges oriented. I started learning COLL when it was thought to be only the gateway to ZBLL, and...
I would agree. It's difficult with most cases to make it OH-compatible, but I'll do my best to find them from now on. Though again, it will be at least a month (when constitution team is over) before I can get in a serious update.
It might work better if you guys just send me the algs over email or PM or something like that. I'll go over them all and make changes. The problem is I have many algs that I'm satisfied with, and only once you give me something better would I see it that it could have been improved. And I will...
Well, not quite that many algorithms. 501 for ZBLL, and with VHF2L you can survive with 32, though 64 has been more valuable in my experience. At the point you're at, no, ZBLL is not worth it. It really is a sub-20 method. At that point you can decide what kind of effort you're willing to put...
OLL took me about a week because by then I knew triggers and such. PLL took me almost 3 months because I wasn't motivated and still didn't know how to learn algs.
Slightly different but related topic: COLL took me 6 months because I was constantly changing algs while learning. And I am...
My eyes pick up pieces and I keep track and I know where everything is but I always get so proud of myself that I don't actually do the case with 100% focus and screw it up.
I've gotten some really insane ones but never 0. I had a .03 once back when I was averaging around 45 seconds and a .05 when I was at about 30. Recently my SD has been going up. ZBLL recognition + recall is so inconsistent.
