I am not really sure but most likely not. As it turns out an unofficial competition isn't really worth the trouble and I don't really have the experience to organize an official one. I'm a little disappointed about it but I guess that's how things go.

It sounds like you just need practice. I had a sub 20 average after only 3 months of practice with Fridrich so it isn't that hard.

You're probably right. I generally try to scramble my cubes in the same sort of style that computer generated scrambles do instead of having a pattern (like crazybadcubers 3x3 scrambles) though. Your first priority should definitely be to learn full PLL. Learn 1-2 algs a day and you'll have it learned in a week or two. After you finish that I'd suggest continuing to learn full OLL. The OLLs are easier to learn than the PLLs and you should know then all within a month or so if you really...

Would you do the same thing with the z perm, or only say "M" when it is NOT a 180 degree move?

I've got a question for everyone here. When verbally speaking an algorithm (e.g. H perm) do you say "M" or "M Prime"? "M two prime, U, M two prime, U two, M two prime, U, M two prime." or "M two, U, M two, U two, M two, U, M two."

The main probelm is that it doesn't align with x/y/z cube rotations. In fact not only do they not go in the same direction but they also don't all go in the opposite direction either. They should go in the same direction as x/y/z or at least the exact opposite. However it doesn't. M and E rotate...

It goes clockwise according to the L face but the R face is more "standard". Also why shouldn't the slice moves follow cube rotations? Either slice moves are backwards or cube rotations are.

I think we should just replace M' with M and vise versa. Imo it's worth a little confusion for year or two to get things right for the long run.

Anyone think that it might be possible to simply redefine M as clockwise facing R and M' as counterclockwise facing R instead of giving it an entirely new letter like N? People already do this for M2 when writing down algs and pretty always use it for both M2 and M when speaking. If enough...

Good post. If we could settle on a new notation for the slice moves and get anough attention we'll make it happen. I've got to go to bed but tomorrow I'll put some serious thought into what we might could use as a new notation system for slice moves.
