I've been very busy lately, but I've just added reconstructions to the post.
Thank you! They are, there's a huge number of people between 11 and 12.
Mostly awesome, if you ignore the counting solve which was 73 ETM :P It definitely feels good to finally get an NR. I remember setting myself a...
A great average for me! Some very close timer stops, but the delegate checked the worst one (solve 4) and said it was okay. Looking at the footage now, I definitely released the puzzle before stopping the timer on every attempt, but it was very close sometimes. I'll be more careful in the...
Clock single was the second-longest standing WR. Amazing to finally see it beaten!
But that finals average... wow. A counting sub-4. Clock is starting to get *fast*.
Congrats to him!
You're right, sorry. I read him talking about Ao5 a couple of times, and assumed that was what the round format was as well.
In that case, I'm not so sure about this. It just seems like giving extra attempts to faster people, to make the records faster. Having an average result which is easier...
I've been thinking Ao5 would be a better format for 3BLD for a while, and I'd be happy if this was changed.
However, there is one thing which I would do differently to what you've proposed. For all other Ao5 events, the default is Bo2/Ao5 for combined rounds, not Bo3/Ao5. I know that DNFing is...
2) If you're going to try to get a short LSE, you should also try doing different block solutions.
(Or just try learning a better FM method like Petrus :p)
3) People don't use normal speedsolving methods for BLD. It's very difficult to solve like that. You use different methods for BLD solving.
Kian Mansour - 9.54 OH average (National Capital Region 2018)
note: When calculating STM, I removed any mistakes, since here, STM is only meant to measure the efficiency of the intended solution. ETPS is a better measure of turn speed

Huge congrats to Kian! I think this is the first ever OH WR to not be set with CFOP, and the first WR with Roux. And hopefully, it won't be the last either :) He still has one more round left, so he should be able to improve this even further.
Learn:
EOLR
Not learn:
All the others
Learning two CMLLs per case is more than enough. Pick the fastest two with a different effect on EO, and then don't bother learning other subsets like all 6-flip or all 0-flip. Not only are the algs horrible in the case of 6-flip, but it's just not worth...
Incredible!
Reconstruction
9.00 STPS / 9.49 ETPS
E2: Thought I'd made a mistake but hadn't. It was correct, but the cube didn't finish in WCA orientation so I had to add a pre-rotation to fix it. It seems to match the correct scramble now.
Switched to Roux in 2014.
Three and a half years later, I finally break my PB single: 5.62. Old PB was 5.78 with CFOP, former Roux PB was 6.00 from just a few days ago (after a 6.06 which had lasted 22 months)
B L2 U2 F R2 D2 B2 L2 U2 R2 F' R' U' R' D2 B' R D2 B2 R
z2 D' L' D F U2 R' F
r U' R2...
Honestly, I think you should start learning full CMLL the moment you're comfortable with 2-look. The earlier you start, the quicker your recognition will become later on. There's no advantage to leaving it until later.
2x2: Yes
3x3: No, but all averages were sub-11, so at least my recent official times are representative of my times at home.
4x4: Yes! :D Was incredibly happy with this one, possibly the highlight of the competition.
OH: Also yes, nerves affected me much less than I'd expected
3BLD: No...
6.00 single, Roux PB!
R' D2 B' D' F L2 U2 D2 R' F B2 U2 F2 U R2 D' R2 F2 U R2 D
y x' U r' y F U R' F // FB (7/7)
R2 U R' U R r U R' U (M' R') U R // SB (CMLL skip) (12/19)
M U M U M' U' M U M2 U M U2 M // LSE (13/32)
32/6.00 = 5.33 TPS.
I don't think this is too harsh; it's not all results being disqualified:
And it's definitely necessary given the situation. There's no way scrambles should be re-used, especially if there were any competitors present at both competitions.
But how will they determine what was affected and what...
Might as well set myself some goals:
2x2: Sub-2 single
3x3: Sub-10 average
4x4: Sub-40 average
OH: sub-15 average
3BLD: sub-1:30 single
All of these are slightly optimistic, but who knows what'll happen. Hopefully I'll get at least one or two :)
