Featured threads were made to display continental and world achievements. They do a good job of this, promoting people to share the information to speedsolving from cubecomps within hours--and even minutes of the results updating.
However, especially with the massive influx of current records, older featured threads quickly clog up the feed, blocking more relevant records.
For example: Anuar Onofre's 8.04 Square-1 world record average is still featured despite being from December of last year and already being bettered by almost a full second.
While records certainly shouldn't be removed immediately after they've been beaten, especially considering how quick the turnover of some records are, perhaps a two or three week timer could start once the record has been beaten so they still get full recognition but don't clog the home page.
In addition, the fact that a record from over 9 months ago, regardless of whether or not it was beaten, indicates a lack of structure in preventing these threads from becoming obsolete. I suggest that an automatic 6-4 month limit be put on featured threads before they get retired from the feed.
