The square-2 has 3 layers.
The square-1 has 3 layers.
So I would think the square-0 has 3 layers.

I think people who build '2x2' square-1s called them square-1/2s or something lol; that's just them though.

i was thinking itd just be a regular sq-1 without the middle layer

I think it's a SQ-1,
has no edges (like 2x2),
it rotates on 2 axises (left side or right side, like all square-x puzzles),
but it still has the middle layer.

Square-2: more edges
Square-1: less edges
Square-0: no edges

Probably one of these:

The first one is more or less a 2x2 with some blocked moves, though, so I think the second is more in the spirit of the SQ-1 and SQ-2 cuts.

Both of those I think could be considered a Square-0. They both make sense.
