Thread: The One Answer Question Thread

Default Corner on Top, Edge in Middle layer, F2L?

You have your corner piece on top, your edge in the middle layer not connected doing F2L, do you usually bring the edge to the top and solve intuitively or do you find a specific alg for that and if so where?

The godly guhong was just to make the guhong v1 unpopable and godly. I don't see why he would mod the guhong v2 because it's basically his godly guhongs after the mods.

There are many cases where there is a corner on top and edge in middle layer, could you be more specific? (which way is you cross piece facing? pictures would be helpful, otherwise you can check out the wiki: http://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/ind...rner_in_U_face (cases 31-36)
Of course the piece in the top layer can be rotated away from the edge as well or the cube could be rotated, but with those you should get a good idea of what you can/should be doing. I should mention though, you probably shouldn't just memorize those algorithms, instead try them a couple times to see what is happening and try to reason it out so you can apply it intuitively into your solves.

How do I mirror algs on the square-1? For example, in CP, if I use this alg: /3,0/-3,0/3,0/-3,0/ for N/J, it does an N on top and J on bottom. What if I get a J on bottom and N on top?

The easiest way would be to do something like /(6,6)/ to swap top and bottom layer, and then just do the algorithm. I'm not that great at square one though, so there's probably something more advanced.

Yeah I was thinking about that. It seems really inconvenient and it seems like there should be a simple change to the alg or something.

If you want to change the core of your ZhanChi, which core would you switch it with, would a Guhong core be better than a ZhanChi one, or should I just keep the same core for the ZhanChi.

Guhong core would make no difference if both were new as they are both dayan cores. I put my old guhong core in my guhong 2 because the core had been broken in and sanded. (also the centre pieces were modded)

People recommend the C4U cores if you really want to change but tbh it makes little difference apart from placebo.
    (a^b)^c = a^(b c) e^(2 i pi c floor(1/2-(Im(b log(a)))/(2 pi)))
I've been cubing for only just over 2 years and I feel old already

Thanks, I'll just keep the ZhanChi core then, btw whats placebo?

I think it's something to do with thinking it will be better before you use it, then when you use it, you think it's better, when in fact, it makes no difference. It's used mainly in testing medicines to get a fair result.
