Unfortunately that's in fact the case. I used Petrus for a period of time but for me personally Roux is nicer. My alg execution is just terrible.
However if there's others (like you) who want to take Petrus further then I may consider getting somewhat fast with it, or even make a Petrus website.
The thing is, to motivate people to use the method they need to see fast people using it. Or some kind of impressive solve style. What I found very cool was Gilles Roux's turning style...
So yah, if there's enough (another) person other than me who wants to take Petrus far, we can do it.
That's the thing though I've come to believe that it really isn't as fast as Roux or Fridrich. I put in about 2 years of daily practice - usually 50+ solves every single day, and progress came so. incredibly. slow. It was just so frustrating. At about 23 ish seconds I got realllly into getting fast with Petrus, and I kept logs of all my solves so I could really pinpoint my progress. It took months to break sub 20, and then months after that to get to 17, and then months for 16, 15, and then it pretty much stopped. I was so discouraged looking at my logs that I actually had to stop tracking my progress. It stayed at 15 for maybe half a year. That's when I quit cubing. ErikJ was solving for like 5 years when I was at that point, and he's only like 13/14 averages. And he was obsessed with being the world's fastest Petrus solver.
I'm sure it's possible for Petrus to be "as fast" as Roux or Fridrich, but it overwhelmingly seems to me that it takes far more effort and time to get the same speed with the other 2 methods. Even now, I'm hesitant to say this because so many fast people (that have never been fast with Petrus) so firmly argued back in the day when these kind of debates were going on that Petrus could be as fast as the others. It was commonplace for people to be like "Petrus is slow" and unanimously everyone would deny it. I don't see that anymore. I wanted to make a thread about this but again, those same people are incredibly particular about what merits a new thread/discussion and what doesn't. I'd really like to hear their thoughts today....
Edit: I think this merits a thread. If anyone disagrees, I'm sure I'll see it there.

F2L:
Setup: R U' R' U' R U R' U y'
Don't like to do the rotation, alternative good algs?
Thanks in advance
I have a problem.
When I practice at home I get nervous.
When I went to a comp I had a faster than average solve.
Reverse psycology?
Because I know I have the potential to get 16 second solves.
