Default Layer By Layer + begginer method times... erik style.

i did an average of 5 today (for kicks) and got 27.09. i continued it and got a 29s average of 12, and a PB of 22.4
lookahead in LBL is AMAZING... i can see about 6 pieces ahead(!)
these times also drop by at least 3/4s if i use 3/2 look.
what times do you lot get?

and i feel this is more appropriate for speedsolving, not beginners central, because of the nature of the question.

(and i DIDNT search for a previous thread, because i want a current update, and everyone would get grumpy if i bumped a dead one... )

(EDIT: sorry i spelt 'beginner' wrong in the title...)

    In chronological order:

    1. Someone makes a thread about how fast 3LLL can be.
    2. I avg sub-20 and upload a video of a representative 17.
    3. I tell Erik to film an LBL avg.
    4. He films such an average and uploads it.

I should probably take a 4LLL avg12, but it doesn't matter so much to me...

with 4LLL it's better 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL (corner and edges), in my first try I got a new PB average of 5 26sec

Is keyhole F2L OK?, I newer used anything but that for my beginners LBL that I started to use in 1981!

    This:

    Cross
    3 corners
    3 edges
    last corner
    last edge
orient LL-cross (FRUR'U'F' and inverse, two times if needed)
permute LL-cross (Sune, two times if needed)
Move corners to position using Niklas*, preferably also orient but it is not needed.
Orient corners (Sunes, 4x if it is pi or H)

+ a number of "special cases" that solves all four LL corners in one go if it comes up, like triple Sune or F3x(RUR'U')F'

    Try it!

    * Niklas is in this case the usual one R U' L' U R' U' L + mirror but also (x) R U L' U' R' U L U' (x') + mirror and inverses

    ----

Later I added more corner cycles, like A-PLL.

lol that actually seems a little longer than what i do... badmephisto's video on 4 Look is what i learnt from for LL, and i learn the beginners LBL method off of ryan heise's site.

Yes, but then there was no internet and no cubeX so I had to go with the algs I could find myself. 32 turns for orienting the pi case (my first alg was 4x Niklas), man I was happy when I found a 24 turn alg for the case

Today I cry tears if I have to do that many for the whole LL

    what about - R U2' R2' U' R2 U' R2' U2' R?

and to answer your original question, any beginner method is fine as long as its lbl and you do LL in more than 3 algs (obviously not including LL cases like getting FRUR'U'F' & a 3 cycle, but you know what i mean )
