Thread: Type A with E core

Default Type A with E core

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has tried out combining a type A with an E core?
more specifically, it is a black type A with a diansheng E core, A springs, E screws. tightening is about medium loose.

this seems like a really weird combination, but i've been using it and it rarely pops and seems to cut corners really well. on top of that it moves fast too, and to be honest, it's one of the best cubes i've used.

just curious if anyone else has tried it or if i'm just a n00b who hasn't really felt a good cube in my hands.

I'm surprised you use Type A springs -- is that the old Type A? The springs are long and tight, which IMO is one of the reasons for the Type A's explosive POPiness. Anyway, I might try this mod later. Which version of the Diansheng did you use? Painted, or stickers?

lol, i know it's weird right? like the worst possi ble springs, center, and screws = good cube.
i used the parts from a painted cube -- like the o nes that come from the plastic container that's an noying to open

yeah it doesnt pop unless you man-handle it or try to cut corners to soon and too hard, but that's j ust a matter of turning precision. i'm playing wit h it right now and i can cut corners at like 40 de grees.

I'll have to test this when I get a hold of a Diansheng. By the way, what's with your font? It's kind of hard to read.

    @unknown.soul

my font is like that because i think there might have been a text-based error caused by an unintentional change.

    idk.

but yeah, i find it's a pretty good cube for OH, but i'm not a good OHer, so i wouldn't know.

btw, the type A pieces that i use with this are hand washed with steel wool and have all been fully covered with CRC silicone spray and left to dry for about 2 days, so i don't know if this will work for everyone.

it's way better than my type D, but maybe my type D just sux.

    Lol?
The cube center cubies are white with black A cubies...
Wow... wonder how it looks like.
Wait... can the A center caps fit into the E center cubies?

If it weren't for the Rubik's cube, i'd die of boredom by now.

Use Type A centers. (if that works, I don't know the size of the Diansheng screws)

    nooooooot exactly.

you take the diansheng center (which is pink or red) and use the type A springs and type E screws. you take all of the white diansheng cubies and center pieces and replace them with the type A ones.

and then you take all of the leftover pieces and make a type E with A core which is also really good. (make sure that the corner lids/caps/sides are in otherwise the edge pieces will catch in the gaping hole left by their absence and cause unusual lockups)

i haven't ever tried a white type A, so that might be different than a black type A (again idk) with E core.
