Default Now I know (different 3x3x3 cubes)...

    Hello!

I got my first Cube in January 2008 and it was a Rubiks 25th anniversary cube and I lubed it with vaseline in march. It is good I thought but I wanted to know how I perform with other 3x3x3 cubes. So, last week I bought some cubes from cube4you:

New Type Black 3x3x3 DIY Cube (f)
It is a good cube I think.. I will lube it in 1 or 2 weeks and then I think it can be a cube used for speedcubing.

    Diansheng White 3x3x3 Cube (e)
Very good good for 4 or 5 Dollars. I knew that I can't use it for speedcubing, but it is ok (for my girlfriend)

    White DIYKit 3x3x3 Cube II
What the bloody hell? This cube sucks like no other. I wonder that this is sold to anyone. I cannot even move it without popping a piece out. I will make a video to show you.. maybe I got an unlucky really bad one.

    White DIYKit 3x3x3 cube (c)
    Ok.

    Rubik's 3x3x3 Speed Cube
The best of all new 3x3x3

I forgot to buy the (d) one, so I'm very unlucky. But also I'm a little bit dissapointed, because compared to my 25th anniversary cube all of these cubes suck. The cube has !NEVER! popped since 6 month and it is very good for speedcubing.

I will make a Video for comparison of all these cubes, maybe you can give me some advice, because it was my first time assembling DIY Cubes.

    good night

    Hi
We all know that 25th cube is VERY good (I broke mine when i thought the rubik's cube can't be disassembled)
The F type cube i don't know it so much, some people says that it's very bad.
Diansheng's cube are like HEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.
After lubing it you can use it for OH , or speedcubing, they're veeeeeeery goood. With no lube they don't cut corners very well.
A II cube, it's very bad, i will experiment with it.
type C is a copy from Rubik's DIY, i don't like it, it pops, and it's hard to turn.
Rubik's speedcube (it can be the DIY) it's good. I will try to put B cubies , but I haven't (I mean B cubies to try Erik's cube) so i will try with another type cubies.
The people says that D ones are very good , specially with A core, I have my Diansheng with an A core and it's very good.
Well, i need to try new cubes

What did you lubricate the DIYs with? Vaseline? They might be better with silicone lubricant, at least the Type E one.

Type Fs are okay. They're light, have a hollow feeling, and don't cut corners too well.

Type Es are excellent with silicone lubricant. Some people say the ones with stickers are better. They are awesome except they don't cut corners too well.

Type A IIs are horrible. Everyone says their bad.

Typ Cs are replicas of Rubiks.com DIYs. They are generally not very good, turning slowly.

im not trying to sound mean, but jsut for future reference a thread like this should be in the hardware sub-forum.

also, do not lube any more cubes with vasoline. use silicone lube. i would actually suggest cleaning your 25th and whatever other cubes have vasoline as soon as you can.

as for the cubes- yes 25th cores pop less than any other core. however you should try putting some of your F or A pieces on the 25th core(after cleaning it). just play around with different combos until you find something you like.

its a shame you didnt buy a D, they are quite good with a type A core in them. F's are pretty solid, and E's are good for OH cubing. im surprised you bought a C, they are generally not considered a good speedcube.

Type A IIs are actually Really good for speedcubing and OH.....i think you think its horrible cuz it locks up???
well the thing is...you have to use a knife and slice or sand down the cubies so that they form like a slant and which will stop the locks

Can KY Jelly be an alternative lubricant?

You guys say "type D" is good if you change its core with a "type A" core, I was wondering if there is a difference between "type A" or "type A (II)" when it comes to the core..

Also, is the type D only good with the type A core?

Also, one last thing.. Which is better? Storebought Rubik's or Type A (II)?

    Thanks

Lol. I once found some in my parents' drawer. I asked them what it was for, and my father sheepishly told me it was used to relieve aches.

Now I know, however, that that was a big lie.
