Thread: How to Get Faster using the Fridrich / CFOP Method

Actually, I learned all olls and plls last summer, when I got my arm hurted and plaster, I couldn't speedsolve my cube at least 1 month. Thats why I decided to start learning fridrich method.

And because I had new phone, I installed to it algorithms application, which only contained LL algs. Olls were also in random order so it was also harder to learn them. Thats way I learned them so that I could make any OLL also backward without lots of thinking

I learned all of them about 3-4 weeks.

I learned 2 look OLL and 1 look PLL, then 1 look OLL. I didn't want to learn 2 look PLL because the recognition I would have been practicing wouldn't have been useful with 1 look, and would have been a hard habit to break I imagine. What I did was if I didn't know the PLL I got in a solve, I just did one I knew and then hoped it would turn into one I did know. There's only the 21 PLLs, and some are really easy, so it was only a couple weeks before I knew them all. I see the point in learning 2 look OLL first, because there are so many and having practiced 2 look OLL recognition isn't really an issue when going to 1 look. With PLL, I really don't see the point in practicing 2 look recognition at all.

I understand what you're saying, but I disagree a little bit. It only takes 4 algs to learn simple 2 look PLL. If you learn those first, you will be able to solve any cube, but if you don't know them and just start memorizing PLL's willy-nilly, sometimes you won't be able to finish the solve.
Even if you learn them all within a week of each other, you still want to learn 2 look first, even if you're only using it for one day.

Can anyone help me, I think I in stage 4. cross+fl2 are 15sec to 20sec but lls about 10 to 20. I learned 7 olls and 4plls. I am too lazy to learn all the plls can you give me which plls are need?, and I think my FT is bad too, how can I improve it??. my ave is 25-35 sec. I learned about 3 month ago.

the ones that affect corners only and edges only
Is it a J-perm? Are we on PLL?

For 2 look PLL, all you need to do is an A-Perm for the corners (but if it's a bad case instead of doing two A-perms you could do one E or Y perm), then all the edges can be solved in one alg with U (clockwise and anticlockwise), Z and H perms. A 25-35 second average after 3 months is really good, well done. Knowing full PLL would help make your times more consistent. and if you used full OLL/PLL your LL stage would tend to be about 1/3rd of your total solve time... so if your first two layers are 15seconds then your whole solves would average about 22seconds (this is still achievable with 2 look OLL)... of course by the time you learn PLL your F2L will likely to have improved so I'm sure you'd be averaging sub-20. Good luck.

One A and one U are all you need, repeat as often as needed to solve corners and edges.

But what I do not get:
You don't want to learn all PLL but you do want to get faster.
An obvious way to get faster would be to, guess what?
Learn all PLL so you do not have to repeat any....

Many people can sub 20 secs with two look PLL. I didnt said I don't want to learn all the PLL, I said Im too lazy, it just take too long, which it means I will learn it but it maybe the last thing I do.

    I think you mean sub-20 with 2-look OLL. Sub-20 with a 4LLL is very hard (I think Erik has got a sub-20 Ao12 with a 4LLL though). Sub-30 is more realistic with 4LLL.

Yes, I mean sub-20 with 4LLL. If you practice EVERYDAY, you can do it. Everyone have their own style, my style is get good at FL2 first, FT second and then learn full pll. With me, hard is not an excuse if you put effort into it. Btw, I like to be different^^
