If you mean do EO right at the beginning of the solve, it's been proposed to death, but the eventual conclusion is that it's not a very good method, since you have to plan out EO at the beginning instead of planning out the first block, which means that you have to build your first block unplanned, which can slow you down. Additionally, you lose M slice pairing and F moves, both of which are extremely useful in Roux.

Yes, all of this...

Even if I could choose between having EO already done before I start vs. random scramble, I would do random scramble, because in the process of trying to preserve EO, my F2B movecounts would be high, plus you would have to do COLL instead of CMLL to avoid messing up EO, so I think the movecount would be higher PLUS the moves it took to do EO in the first place.

I am probably on the verge of switching to Roux as I can't get better with CFOP. Roux is more fun anyway. I think using CFOP(Yau) is better on 4x4.

Can't get better???? How long have you been stuck at the same speed?

Not progressing for a few weeks is the worst reason I've heard to switch methods. Also, splitting your time between Roux and CFOP (4x4) is going to hurt your progress in both. If your goal is to get good at 4x4 AND 3x3, then keep using Yau/CFOP.

About a month at 23 seconds. I won't switch directly, I'll practice both methods to see which one seems more easy. Both of them are nice. I want to get good at big cubes and 3x3 and BLD.

This doesn't seem like a sound reason to swap methods as it is inevitable that you will be stuck at a certain point in time. Ask the average sub 15 or even sub 20 solver if they have ever been stuck and I can assure you that they will say that they have.

Well, Roux will seem very hard for you at the beginning since you are not accustomed to using the M slice and block building. In my opinion, the best way to try a method out is to actually switch directly just so you can hammer the basics out.

I want to get good at big cubes and 3x3 and BLD.

I feel like your goals that you just posted covered most all of the main events in cubing (don't be nit picky here) and that Roux may not be the greatest help in achieving these goals. While Roux is a great candidate for 3x3, it will not really transfer over to the bigger cubes that well (since you were planning to use Yau on 4x4).

If I were you, I would decide what is the most important/enjoyable aspect in cubing and focus on it before moving on to the many other branches of the cubing world.

Full step 10.67 with a 13-move F2B!

L' F2 R U2 F2 R' B2 D2 R' D' R2 B2 U R D B' R' U R

y2 z'
U R2 D r B' (5)
U R' U' r' U2 r' U' r (8)
F R2 D R' U R D' R2' U' F' (10)
M' U2 M' U2 M' U M' U' M2 U' M' U2 M2 U2 M' (15)
alg.garron.us

I wish I had a shorter LSE, or a more comfortable CMLL... Sub10 single is so close!

Roux PB and first sub-14: 13.89. I failed so much.

(Scramble: B2 L U2 L2 B2 U2 L' F2 D2 R' D2 U B' D2 L' R B U L')
Misscramble: B2 L U2 L2 B2 U2 L' F2 D2 R' D2 U B' D2 L R' B U L'

My solution:
x2 // Inspection
R u' // LBlock (2/2)
r U r' // RSquare (3/5)
U' R' U R U [M' R'] U r // RBlock (9/14)
U2 R2 D R' U2 R D' R' U2 R' // CMLL (10/24)
M U M' // EO (3/27)
U M2 U // ULUR (3/30)
M' U2 M' // EP (3/33)
alg.cubing.net

or alternatively
x2 // Inspection
R u' // LBlock (2/2)
r U R2 U' R // RSquare (5/7)
U' R' U' r // RBlock (4/11)
U2 r U' L' D L U r' B' // CMLL (9/20)
U M' U' M' // EO (4/24)
U' M' U2 M U // ULUR (5/29)
E2 M' E2 M // EP (4/33)
alg.cubing.net

Yeah... that's an 11 move F2B...

Yeah... that's a 9 move F2B...

Congrats!

(Anyway, none of your solutions works with none of the scrambles...)

Not again... I know the problem is I can't misscramble properly. I must have made more mistakes than just the one... or did I even make that mistake? I kept getting different scrambles when I was trying to resconstruct, so I probably should have checked. I'll keep trying to find what I've done.

E: I'm thinking I could have done B2 L U2 L2 B2 U2 L' F2 D2 R' D2 U B' D2 L R' B U L', lemme check

E2: yep! I'll edit in to my previous post

In the second solution, the CMLL should be U2 r U' L' D L U r' B'. Otherwise now they are working. :)
(Hm, I think you mentioned before why you can't use alg.cubing.net, but I forgot...)

And very nice solutions!

EDIT:
Oh, and count again your second solution. It is 33 STM. ;) (RSquare is 5, not 3.)

Sorry, that was my attempt at mirroring my usual OCLL.
It was alg.garron.us I couldn't use. I don't use alg.cubing.net because I'm too stupid to remember it most of the time.
My stupidity is also shown by my inability to count.

Fixed both errors and added alg.cubing.net links.

Damn, this is a great scramble!

L2 U' L2 B2 U2 R2 U R2 B' R' D U L' D R B2 L D

After 3 moves a completed FB and a nice pair for SB!

Unfortunately, my choice for the second block was not the best, and I got a reaaaally long everything, so it was only a 11.76...

z'
U F' D' x' (3)
r2 U2 r' U' R U r' R' U2 R' M' U' R (13)
U' R' U' R U' R' U2 R2 U R' U R U2 R' (14)
U' M' U' M U M' U' M U M2 U' M' U2 M (14)
alg.cubing.net

BUT! If I had chose a different SB, the whole solve would been 30 STM!

z'
U F' D' x' (3)
U' M U R' U R2 r U' R (9)
F R U R' U' R U R' U' F' (10)
U2 M' U2 M' U M2 U2 M (8)
alg.cubing.net

With the same turning speed, it would have been 8.02 seconds... I'm currently crying on the floor.

About a month at 23 seconds.

I was stuck at 25 for 2 years and back then I was too shy to ask for help or search for other Roux users to help me. But I passed that barrier. By all means switch if you want, it's all up to you. Just saying anything's possible if you put effort into it. Progression differs from person to person. Just because someone got sub-20 in a month doesn't mean another will get it as fast.
