Since this is really rare that something like this happens, I supposed that the score calculator in the wca result sheets was the ones actually used for the rankings.
But let's make an example:
Albert gets 21/21 in 50:00
Berta gets 23/25 in 50:00
Someone types in the results, excel say Alberta wins and Berta gets second. Would you the go manually and edit the positions?
I know that the MBLD is stored as a score (like just below 1000000) and that you can extract everything useful out of it so easy. When I created the weekly comp system I also had to make such a thing, and I actually asked why 21/21 was better than 23/25, and most of them (at least of what I remember) said that it was because of the accuracy being more impressive than the number of solved cubes, no one really mentioned it should be considered a tie.
I dunno, I think 50 would be tough for the top people. If you look at Maskow he's ridiculously fast but around cubes his accuracy starts to go down. So I don't think he would find it so easy to do 4 times that much. (And multi was already getting unmanageable - look at the attempts by Rowe and Mondo!)
