What I meant by that is 23 cubes is the most cubes ever solved blind folded in competition, so 23 cubes is the amount to beat.
    technically that is not true

I believe in 2008 and before, MBLD had no time limit.

Yeah, MBLD didn't used to have a time limit, so a few people tried very large attempts. 23/x is the most number of cubes officially solved in an hour, though.
Computer cube PB averages of 12: [Clock: 5.72] [Pyraminx: 3.44] [Megaminx: 49.52]
    [2x2: 2.66] [3x3: 8.71] [4x4: 29.06] [5x5: 52.69] [6x6: 1:34.78] [7x7: 2:20.34]

Actually the 10 min/cube time limit was already in effect. For example, Mondo had to solve his 50 cubes in less than 8 hours and 20 minutes, and took "only" 6 hours and 3 minutes for them.

I wonder how many cubes the best multBLDers would attempt today with the old rules, maybe 100 ? Anyway, the multiBLD event would probably have become really unmanageable, and that's the main reason why the 1 hour time limit was added to the rules.

That may be true. But from the video, it seems cubes aren't arranged properly or in any neat order, which probably meant he wasn't planning to make an corrections.
