Thread: To all sub-15 solvers (CFOP)

Default To all sub-15 solvers (CFOP)

Hello, I'm not new to the forums, but I just registered today. I've been averaging 25-27 seconds on my 3x3 since yesterday lol. I am pretty happy, however, I was thinking about people who are sub-15 and I realized I will never be able to solve F2L in <10 seconds. This made me feel like a kid thinking about death. My question to you is, have you ever felt this way.

Nope. It's easy to do F2l sub 10. It just takes practice.

Thanks. I have been practicing daily. Is it just good look ahead that will put you into sub-10 F2L territory?

Every speedcuber was in stage like you.
I was too, but i Don't really care about this that I can't solve f2l under 10 seconds - I was just solving cube a lot.
Funniest thing is that I was solving cube but didn't count the times, and one day when I sit at the computer And count my average - I was in shock That I have soo good times.

So don't be afraid and practice a lot !

And no I don't felt this way - When I was averaging 25-27 sec - I was saying to myself that I will be very happy to get times sub 20. Now I am averaging sub 15 -17 and I Didn't ever think that I will average like this.

Let's say that with enough practice you can solve a cross and every F2L pair separately in 2 seconds (maximum). With decent look-ahead you will surely be able to sub-10 cross+F2L

Don't just practice. Practice, and learn from what you're doing. No point in doing something and not benefiting from it

try to think about your moves. And it's good to take a break from timing, and just think about how you can improve. Don't say "I'll never be sub-20, or sub-15" because that won't get you anywhere.

Good luck, I hope you can improve

Everybody has felt this way at some point. What would you tell somebody who had been cubing for a week and averages over a minute saying they will never be sub 30?
The thing is, it is out of your reach right now but that doesn't mean it is out of your reach in a year if you put in consistent effort to improve.

I never thought I would approach a minute, and look at my PB.

I practice, but nothing too much, and most of the time I do it without timing myself because I want to explicitly go slow so I see what I am doing and what patterns to recognize. Once I recognize, I can execute, and when I recognize faster I can start executing faster.

Everything in its own time. I'll be happy to get to sub-60! But if I won't get sub-60 I won't care. I can already do something most people can't: solve that cube!

What? Sub-10 F2L is so easy! Try getting sub-5 (currently stuck at 7ish).

Don't worry, just practice and work on slowing down and looking ahead. That's really all you need.

~o.t.: The biggest part of trying to get my f2l time down was making sure that I was able to watch the pieces of my first pair, or at least a corner, while I was forming the cross. This way you get a smooth cross to f2l transition, and with continued look ahead you'll be done a lot faster than you think .
