Yesterday, we passed on the TV show "Pénélope McQuade" on radio-canada, for the segment "La minute de gloire".
Yes, they did messup the names a bit,Louis doesn't exactly average 15 at OH (me neither, but I'm way closer :P).

Nice one! I'd be too nervous to get a good solve in a setting like that.

Yeah, we were on the news a while back. However, the main reason cubing gets so much attention, is because my dad contacts the media at every event we do (competitions, demos, etc).

Ah, I was wondering why you guys were getting so much attention from the media.

It's really cool that you got to meet Jean Chrétien.

    Thank you :-)

I have a list of emails I send a "press release" whenever the Club has an event. It includes media from radio, newspapaper and TV. But this time, they contacted us! The reason they found us is because the regional network did a segment on us when we did our 3-day demo at the Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa. The National Network wanted some speedcubers on their show.

I got the first email Monday June 18th. A week later, we drove the 2 hours to Montreal for the taping (June 25). We rehearsed, to make sure Antoine and Louis were setup at the right places, making sure the cameras could get good angles, made ensuring the timing of the solves was right (originally, we though Antoine would do two one-handed solves followed by a normal solve while Louis would do one foot solve; after a few attempts at this, it was decided both would start at the same time, but after Antoine would be done his one-handed, he would wait for Louis to finish his solve before starting his two-handed one). Rehearsal was about 30-40 minutes. Half an hour later, we taped the show (in front on a live audience). The show aired a couple of hours later!

I should mentionned that Antoine and Louis had their own "dressing room", and had their hair/makeup done by staff at the station.

It was cool meeting not only the former Prime Minister (he was very personable and funny), but also a comedian and Adam Cohen (Leonard Cohen's son; musician/signer). It also gave all of us an appreciation of "semi-live" television!

    Anyone wanna try reconstructing

The OH solve could be hard, since its off the camera for a while, however, I might get a nicer version which has the cube. (Last pair was y or y', then R' U' R U' R' U' R and the
    LL alg was R2' D' R U2 R' D R U2 R)

    2H LL was R' U' R U' R' U R U x' R U' R' U then J perm
