I am unable to argue cube laws. My only response is that the perspective is changed, but after an x rotation the edge is still oriented for the FUBD group and not always for other groups. Also, my intent was to give a name to the orientation, not really to add a rotation into the group.

    And moves the centres
    (a^b)^c = a^(b c) e^(2 i pi c floor(1/2-(Im(b log(a)))/(2 pi)))
I've been cubing for only just over 2 years and I feel old already

Orientation is now "with the centres". I could elaborate if you don't get me, but I am terrible at explaining things to people :/

Yeah I don't get it. Maybe you can just answer this: he wrote
"FUBD: Oriented along x. Any x rotation preserves edge orientation within this group"

With your "with the centres" meaning, aren't these also true(?):
"FUBD: Oriented along y. Any y rotation preserves edge orientation within this group"
"FUBD: Oriented along z. Any z rotation preserves edge orientation within this group"
