My friend and I have started writing parodies to songs, and were wondering if they were decent at all, so I decided to come here and post this. Please post criticism and anything that we could do to improve the songs.
This song is a parody of "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift
It's a reference to the Election of 1824, where John Quincy Adams won because Henry Clay told the House Of Representatives to vote for Adams, rather than Andrew Jackson.

You’re by yourself, thinkin’ bout the Corrupt Bargain
we’re both wondering why I didn’t win
and I’ll never be dishonest like Quincy was

I’m in my office, typical Friday night
Planning for the kind of battles he doesn’t like
cause he can’t defend your freedom like I do

I’m a hero,
he’s a coward
I hold a sword
and he holds a flower!
and I’m planning for the day when you’ll open your eyes and see
everything you’re looking for is in me!

If you could see that I’m the leader to unite you!
I can make the nation strong,
why can’t you see?
Should have gone with me...
should have gone with me.

Secretary of State, pretty cushy job
let’s see how you fare against the angry mob
They all know of your plot
at the time it seemed hot
But soon there’s a rebellion
America the Beautiful could be a great place
but not as long as we’re ruled by Quincy’s pale face
Yeah just fine, we could be better than that
Adequate, we’re so much better than that!

I’ve got charisma
he’s got connections
I study hard
his collection is in sections!
and I’m planning for the day when you’ll open your eyes and see
everything you’re looking for is in me!

If you could see that I’m the leader to unite you!
I can make the nation strong,
why can’t you see?
Should have gone with me...
should have gone with me.

I led the troops, defended New Orleans
Got majority, how could you not see, Henry?
Should have gone with me,
should have gone with me.

Oh, they remember me,
planning for attack
to be a hero got a knack
routed those Redcoats
sent them sailing in their boats
100,000 versus less
in the end a bloody mess
Made old Georgie my latrine
that was the fight for New Orleans

Can’t you see that I’m the leader to unite you?
I can make the nation strong, why can’t you see?
Should have gone with me!

I led the troops, defended New Orleans
Got majority, how could you not see, Henry?
Should have gone with me,
should have gone with me.

Should have gone with me!
Have you ever thought just maybe,
you should have gone with me?
You should have gone with me.

Thanks for any help

I wrote one of these songs about rome, to the tune of american pie by don mclean:
A long, long time ago, I can still remember that there was a place called Rome;
It was probably started by Aeneas, or maybe Romulus and Remus
But i know that people called this place their home.
But things went wrong with Sextus Tarquin,
He raped Lucretia and Brutus stopped him;
But up his sleeve, Brutus had a new trick;
He went on to start the Republic!
He formed these magistrate positions;
There were also plebeians and patricians.
But through all of these tough conditions,
There came, a place called Rome...

So my, my look at These Roman guys!
At the rate at which they’re going,
it seems like they’ll never die,
With Marius and Sulla and don’t Forget the Gracchi,
These Romans never seem to give up,
No, Romans will never give up...

Did you make the magistrates,
and did you put their duties in their place?
Oh, no you didn’t ‘cause Brutus did...
There were Quastors, Aediles, Praetors, and Consuls too,
They would help the Senate decide what to do,
In case they couldn’t do it on their own.
Each position had 1 year to do what they need;
Quastors were in charge of the treasury,
Aediles handled road repairs,
Praetors dealt with courtroom affairs;
Consuls had the best role in the Corus Honorum;
They had the power of Imperium!
They could execute or pardon people on their word,
In this place called Rome....

So my, my look at These Roman guys!
At the rate at which they’re going,
it seems like they’ll never die,
With Marius and Sulla and don’t Forget the Gracchi,
These Romans never seem to give up,
No, Romans will never give up...

Now, the Punic wars, yes, there were three;
Rome and Carthage fighting over sicily,
In the first of these three wars.
In the second, there was Scipio,
And Hannibal made a charge on Rome
Through the alps with his war elephants.
Rome cornered Carthage with Guerrilla warfare,
And Scipio started to prepare
For an attack straight on Carthage from Rome,
While Hannibal left to defend his home...
At the battle of Zama, Rome was the victor,
Rome strangled Carthage like a boa constrictor,
In the last punic war, Carthage was destroyed
By this place called Rome....

So my, my look at These Roman guys!
At the rate at which they’re going,
it seems like they’ll never die,
With Marius and Sulla and don’t Forget the Gracchi,
These Romans never seem to give up,
No, Romans will never give up...

The Gracchus brothers, there were 2,
They wanted to just end the feud,
About the land ownership of Rome...
Tiberius and Gaius were their names,
but Nasica of the optimates
Opposed their idea of a land reform...
And the law passed, and Optimates fumed,
And the Gracchi were certainly doomed,
They wanted Rome to move ahead...
Because of it they lost their heads!
Because the moment they would walk outside
The optimates ripped their limbs off and left them to die,
No one knows the reason why,
In this place called Rome

So my, my look at These Roman guys!
At the rate at which they’re going,
it seems like they’ll never die,
With Marius and Sulla and don’t Forget the Gracchi,
These Romans never seem to give up,
No, Romans will never give up...
